The Main Reason Why I Don’t Feel Alone In My Journey On Medium
In response to Coffee Challenge; Why I am a pro shoutout movement
The only idea of a challenge makes me a little anxious. It doesn’t have to do with winning or losing the competition, but with time schedules, rules to check a few times otherwise your work will not be accepted, and finding out that maybe your contribution was not so special as you thought.
That’s why I admire all the people who take part in competitions at every level and in every area of their life, because they have the courage to go out there, and try. They like the idea, and most of all they make the effort.
However, I couldn’t resist taking part in this challenge organized by Coffee Times, because it is about an important part of my recent life. I started writing on Medium in March 2021, and every single day I found it difficult to understand how it works. I often thought it was too complicated for me. There was too much information on what to do and how to do it right. I spent days reading the articles of other writers: realizing how good they are increased my personals doubts about my first steps as a writer and about my use of English — I am Italian.
Every week I told myself I would get to the end of the month, and then decide what to do, and I considered if I should give up and stop wasting my time. Being a beginner alone is quite complicated and hard. You really don’t know if you are doing things the right way.
The real change in my path on Medium took place thanks to the community of writers who connected with me and helped me feel more confident. They showed me I was not alone. Some of them gave me great advice, others read my articles, others followed me. It was a special situation: I could talk about my posts, some of which are very personal, with people I never met, and I liked it. I trust them.
The writers on Medium are the main reason why I go on in my journey. I admire them and I hope one day I will write like they do. I read and comment on many of their articles, and I wish I had more time to read and clap more. A shoutout to all of them shows how important they are for me and for other writers, and it helps me say thank you in a simple way, and share all I have learned, thanks to their help. I Hope it also helps them feel encouraged and admired.
That’s why I couldn’t resist taking part in this challenge, because every encouragement gives value to my everyday life, and I am sure they spread love and positive energy also to other writers.
Of all the wonderful persons I have met on Medium, I must admit I felt at home when I started reading articles by writers who turned out to be editors of Coffee Times: Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles Dr. Preeti Singh Yana Bostongirl Drashti Shroff Marrisa W. Sharing Randomly.
The requirement of Coffee Times helps us appreciate other writers and their work. Reading and supporting them is the only way to help them grow, and to continue writing on Medium. Otherwise you are alone and lost, like I was a few months ago.
Sharing other writers’ successes is a way of caring about them, their efforts and their journey. That’s why I want to give a shoutout to Coffee Times and Winston, because they add value to all of us and help us connect and support each other. Thank you!
