No fancy restaurants, valet service, or neon signboards. But smiling faces, flavorful dishes, and a homely atmosphere for people to unwind.

As soon as you hit Karachi’s famous food street, at least a dozen guys will chase you with their half tore menu cards. So, better to decide fast if it is going to be a dine-in or a takeaway. I bet you won’t have the patience to take it for too long.

So, if it’s dine-in, there are plenty of options. You can sit inside the restaurant as there are normally a few places available, have it outside in the traditional table/chair fashion, enjoy it on a Takhat (big wooden benches with side pillows) where you can sit or even lie down, or keep calm in your car and let the guy bring the food to you.

Another must sight in the midst of aromatic barbeque smokes, and haphazardly parked cars are street vendors selling balloons, toys, and flowers. Don’t bother if they come around too much because, without them, this place won’t feel complete.

After you finish eating, complete the cycle by ordering the traditional Homemade Ice Cream. Last but not least, top it all off by having a Meetha Pan (betel leaves with sweet add-ons).

Don’t miss it, or else you will really curse yourself.

So, you are at the scene. It is time to make up your mind, but it is never easy as you dive into the endless world of mouth-watering options.

Obviously, there is a whole range of Pakistani cuisine, including barbecue items like Chicken Tikka, Gola Kabab, and Bihari Boti. Then there are the ‘must-haves’ authentic Pakistani dishes such as Nihari, Haleem, and Paya. Finally, it won’t be right talking about Karachi’s delicacies and not mentioning our biggest crush, which is none other than Biryani and Karhai Chicken.

Moving on, you will find the Pakistani version of Chinese dishes like the ever so popular Egg Fried Rice, Beef Chillie, and Chicken Manchurian. There are other tasty treats also in the queue, such as fast food items and Arabic delights.

The items available on the food street literally run in hundreds and the list does not end by mentioning just a few. People eat them like crazy as the shops remain open in full swing past 4 am in the morning.

Besides the unparalleled atmosphere and food to die for, another unique feature that makes Boat Basin very attractive is the fact that Karachi is located by the sea. So, for those who don’t know, Karachi is blessed with cool evenings despite its usual hot and humid weather during the daytime.

So, whenever you decide to visit Karachi food street, enjoy your time in the open air with family and friends to make the experience really memorable.

Needless to say but the fun and food at Karachi Boat Basin makes us really come out of our daily office and household routines and let us re-live with the hidden laughter that is dying to come out.
