The Luckiest Cheater In The World: Man saved his own life by having an affair

Lou Pai earned the title of the luckiest cheater in the world. A former executive at Enron, Pai, despite being married, harbored a penchant for dancers and strip clubs. His infidelity took a serious turn when he engaged in an affair with Melanie Fewell, a stripper who was also married, resulting in her pregnancy. When Pai’s wife of two decades discovered the affair and the extramarital child, she promptly filed for divorce.
To meet the conditions of his divorce settlement, Pai had to liquidate 250 million dollars worth of Enron stock. Coincidentally, a few months later, the Enron fraud scandal unfolded, causing the company’s stock value to plummet to zero. Fortunately for Pai, since he had sold his stock and departed from the company before the scandal erupted, he escaped charges of insider trading and remained free from any criminal accusations, a fate that befell many other Enron executives.
In stark contrast to the 21 Enron executives, including some of Pai’s former colleagues, who were convicted and incarcerated, Pai emerged unscathed. He went on to marry Melanie, raising their daughter together, and the couple eventually became the second-largest landowners in Colorado.
