Summary

The poem reflects on the immutability of a cold heart and the importance of respecting the past while cautioning against being trapped in reliving it.

Abstract

The poem "The Love Once Lost" delves into the nature of lost love and the transformation of the heart. It suggests that a heart that has turned cold once cannot be expected to provide warmth again. The poem emphasizes that while time moves forward and circumstances change, the essence of a cold heart remains unaltered. It posits that our defining moments are the memories etched into our existence. The poem advises to honor the past as it contains insights into the potential of our future, yet it also warns of the dangers of being consumed by past memories, which can lead to a cycle of reliving the darkness of the past.

Opinions

The love once lost cannot be found in the same eyes.

The heart that gave frost instead of warmth isn’t to be trusted with colours of your love.

Time passes, and things change but the cold heart remains the same.

Things that mark us, those that define us are all memories carved into our being.

Respect the past for it holds the key of what tomorrow might be.

But be aware of the darkness that dwells in reliving the past again, and again in your head.
