The LOT Sunday Brunch Review

A great place for a white-tablecloth buffet brunch (and bottomless mimosas)

Looking for a great classy brunch buffet in the East Bay? The LOT in San Ramon is the place to go.

There are lots of great brunch restaurants in the Bay Area. Denica’s has delicious food in a casual atmosphere, and Chow in Lafayette (now under a new name) is a great option, as is the Cooperage.

But none of these restaurants has a buffet. And most of the brunch buffets in the area aren’t upscale, white-tablecloth, platter-of-smoked-salmon affairs.

The LOT’s Sunday brunch definitely is. Located in the new City Center shopping center, the LOT is a cool new cinema/restaurant hybrid. The movie theatre is a lot of fun, and the restaurant has good food — better than you might expect from a movie-oriented place.

I’ve been there for several meals, but the Sunday brunch buffet is truly excellent. The space is set up with big, high quality chafing dishes, with everything from scrambled eggs and yummy bacon to pancakes, roasted salmon, and more.

The cold items are great too, with smoked Salmon, shrimp cocktail, pastries, and a big fruit/yogurt station with berries, granola, and more.

There’s even an omelet station with a chef who’s been there since the beginning and does a great job, and is also great with the customers.

There’s a carving station, too, with prime rib.

The desserts are a nice addition. They have a good spread, with cookies, tiny creme brulees, and more, all arranged into a nice display.

The LOT’s brunch is surprisingly kid friendly, too. Kids under 4 eat free, and they have a special lower price for kids from 4 to 12. Couches and big comfy chairs provide plenty of space to spread out. And for those without kids (or with — I don’t judge) they have $10 bottomless mimosas.

Prices are overall reasonable for a really high-end brunch, at $30 per adult.
