The Lonely Place
A Poem
I sought you in the earthly spaces Churches, Mosques, and meeting places
Vacant, ancient words, repeated Lessons taught, but rarely heeded…
Needed you to meet me there but left, I was, emptied and bare
Aware that you indeed existed, distant, cold, and heavy fisted
And so, a lifetime passed before I fled, led by the quest for more
To seek, repent, and end this chase I found you in the lonely place…
Grace and truth in you abiding Near as breath, not far and hiding
Hidden though, to me, you’d felt my soul, since time began, you’ve held
