The London Effect
A poetic look at the city of London
As a writer, I have attempted to encapsulate the feeling of living in London. I have here three poems, “London Historica” is the history of the City of London,” “Metallic Lines of an Embrace” is about the underground tube train network in the city. The third poem is about the favorite Fish & Chips shops in the city.
Let us start the story about the building and evolution of the City of London with London Historica. The history of London in rhyme for every season.
The underground tube network is always busy with passengers. The morning school and office rush are a familiar sight between 7 and 8 am. The next big wave of commuters is at the end of the day with the office rush of workers returning home at 5 pm in the evening. In this poem “Metallic lines of an Embrace”, you can embrace the experience and the feeling of traveling in the underground train network, in a very busy city.
A popular sight in London is the fish and chip shops. Here is my poem “The Fish and Chip Shop.” Enjoy and relish the experience of eating warm potato fries with fish and sausages in the batter.
We must not forget the Pubs in the city. There are still a few of them left in London. Though, they are facing the adverse effects of the pandemic on their industry, with many shutting down over the years as well.
I hope that you have enjoyed the poems on the city of London. Perhaps these vignettes have given you a memorable experience, to sustain you for when you can visit the city of London.
