The Little Boy Waited for The Old Age’s Answer

This prose is a sequel to the previous prose that was inspired by one of the greatest violinists of these times when he was a little boy!

Slowly he opened his eyes. Turning around in his bed, looking outside: ‘Still dark’, he thought. Then his head turned towards his new digital clock: ‘2 am.’ He closes his eyes, but he can’t sleep. He is so restless, turning around in bed and playing Mozart No3 in his mind repeatedly.

Suddenly The Little Boy heard a cracking door. There is a dark voice whispering: “You’re going to fail at your concert.” Shaking his head, The Little Boy sits on his bed and sees a shadow passing through right in front of him. He tried to get his very needed sleep for his concert next: his debut with a real orchestra.

While he shook his head the shadow came closer to him and stopped right in front of his eyes. His wide eyes got scared and he shook his head again. It didn’t go away. He wants to scream, but there was no sound coming from his voice.

The more he got confused, the more tired he become. His eyes closed and he let him fall on his bed to go back to sleep. Back in the dark, he still heard a voice whispering: “You’re next.”

The Little Boy woke up again and looked outside, stood up from bed, and walked to his door. He opened it, but it was not cracking at all. How is that possible? ‘I dreamt it was making a lot of noise during the night,’ he thought. “What happened to you Little Boy of me”, said his Mom while He walked downstairs.

He hugged his Mother tightly as he was still scared of what had happened. Was it a nightmare? Did it all happen last night? Still confused, The Little Boy prepared for the big concert tonight. He is a little bit silent in the morning.

While his mother was doing the dishes, he played some more scales, triads, and the difficult passages from Mozart’s violin concerto. He got a bit of a bad feeling in his stomach. Nerves took over as he thought back to his nightmare.

During the drive in the car, he looked into the score carefully, and again, he saw a shadow above his head. Is it a sign he can’t do this? Is it a sign he is meant for this job? Why is this happening to The Little Boy? The shadow looked like a spider.

The orchestra is already in the hall and just practiced the symphony that will be played after the intermission. The whole program is all by Mozart. Also, there is a camera team recording this concert. The nerves are heavier now. He hates being nervous about giving concerts. He can’t cope with it.

He nods to the very nice conductor to start the concerto. Suddenly, his violin was out of tune. All strings were not strong enough and one broke. Luckily it is during the rehearsal. After he got a new E-string, the concertmaster looks surprised by how well The Little Boy played. So mature, so confident and so talented that the concertmaster forgot to start the melody in time.

During the break between the rehearsal and the concert, The Little Boy recharged himself by reading his favorite book. When he opened it, he remembered that he took the card with the poem off the wall and bring it with him to give him all the strength he needs for the night.

while Mozart left a career behind, there was a little boy standing on stage, taking his violin to be the musical wind, playing the music of an old age, the orchestra leading his way, understanding all the notes, ever long enough to stay? the little boy never missed the boats

He takes his violin, and played scales, triads, and the difficult passages from Mozart’s violin concerto all over again to stay warm for the concert. His mom got backstage to wish him good luck, hugging him and gave him thumbs up.

The stage manager called The Little Boy’s name to go on stage. He shook the whole title walking on stage. He takes a deep breath before putting his violin under his chin. One more look at the conductor and the concertmaster before he starts in his music. Looking into the audience, he saw his mother and his teacher. ‘Never wave to someone in the audience’, he thought playing his first note.

Playing the third movement of the concerto, he got distracted by a spider crawling on the back of the conductor, making a spiderweb towards The Little Boy’s violin. He looks so scared, that he played the wrong note while thinking about what to do to scare the spider.

He saw the audience moving a lot on their chairs and he played differently than he practiced at home. He thought the audience didn’t like his playing. Then, he saw another spider, this one was on the wall behind the cellos.

The spider was crawling on the wall during a concert full of joy. The violinist was scared of what to do. When he saw the audience being confused seeing the violinist bringing in another melody. Something fast with lots of passages, they immediately knew what was going on.

His eyes more widened. What should he do? He knows one thing to do: playing that piece that scares the spider. With his long locks of hair covering his eyes, which looked like a curtain, he looked deeply into the eyes of the spider. The Little Boy looked at the conductor and concertmaster and set in the first note of that one piece that scares the spiders away. Does that actually work?

I wrote this poem under the post of violinist Kirill Troussov, which he posted on the 29th of August 2021.

I also wrote this comment under his recent post, which he posted on the 12th of September 2021.
