The Lazy Ladybird
A poem. Prompt: “Imagination”
My favourite insect is the Ladybird. I sometimes daydream I am one. Or is it a regular dream? To be honest I’m not completely sure but I do know there is some truth somewhere Enjoy!

I could fly if I wanted to As I have marks of high potential Twelve spots to be precise A swagger for all to see A kind of celebrity in my community
I’m a rock star I’ve flown 74 miles in one super flight Well oiled wings That could easily beat the aesthetics Of other below-me beetles Well I’m in the collective of loveliness
Ha! I’m pretty I gets the-attention at gatherings At the rich green marsh land light dances The mound adventures And the annual ritual Where sound flutters Are in awe Of being in awe
I’m ego happy Strut like a diva With a parallel ego Grand lakes and leaves part when I arrive Got many lives in this world And layers of gold silk wings So much swagger
I’m your go-to fabulous Juice honey purple slice magnet Rich vein In the beauty eye Yeah I’m your resident lantern lighter Simply I’m the lazy ladybird.

Many thanks to Sahil Patel for this prompt. I was excited to do this and felt the urge to just write directly on Medium. The trusty pad was not needed this time around!
Imagination is a wonderful gift. It’s a personal gift to each and everyone of us (and others). I say others as do we really know other species do not imagine?
The prompt is timely as I continue to explore boundaries for my poetry. The two pieces of artwork are born from the engine of artificial intelligence imagining my poetry. It’s a fascinating process in terms of what can be achieved with AI and machine learning. Imagination comes in all the senses and this is only a flavour by visualising the poem of The Lazy Ladybird.
