The Last Plane Ride
The one you saved my life
I read an article on-line about a small single engine airplane, as the report said, the plane “Hit a flock of birds.” The plane then crashed, and the pilot survived. The link to this story is attached later in this poem.
Of course, my poetic license kicked in, and went wild, after reading that story.
Below is my take on a “Bird Strike”, and how it might impact a young couple in love. Enjoy
The Last Plane Ride
Caused by a Bird Strike
I got in my plane My sports car with wings To get to her quicker I would do anything.
Speeding down the runway Soon, wheels -up I would see her by sunset With any luck.
Your picture is taped proudly on my dash For the world to see I want them to know The love shared, between you and me
Climbing to the clouds I can hear your voice You want me home soon I have no choice
All of a sudden A noise sounds so strange Don’t quote me on this But birds were hitting my plane.
I will lower my plane To avoid the birds The scariest sound I’ve ever heard
My windshield shattered A huge bird in the co-pilot seat His claws were huge But I was more concerned with his beak.
His talons attacked me They grabbed the side of my face He then flew out of the plane Without a trace
I saw a light Like a beacon in the night As if you were saying, Everything is alright.
The tower was flashing with bright colored lights I will be ok, If I don’t loose my sight.
I lowered my plane And I lowered my speed, Much love, and prayers, Is what I need.
From the Tower Her voice, I did hear It made me happy To know you are near.
I could barely see As there was blood in my eye The Tower demanded for me to fly.
My wife was also a pilot She knew what to do I am going to help you land Just remember, I love you.
Drop your speed more And follow the runway lights Keep doing what you doing And you will be alright.
I landed the plane on a wing and a prayer It was a comfort seeing My wife, standing there.
I brought the plane down On her word alone I couldn’t wait With her, to go home.
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the read.
