The Last Month of 2023: Everything That Seemed Too Late Was Just in Time
Only those who never stop moving forward get to collide with the life they want.
Before we know it, there is only the last month left in 2023.
The days that have passed, whether joyful or frustrating, fulfilled or regretful, happy or disappointing, are all in the past.
Let go of the things that could not happen as wished; put down the things that were beyond capability.
In the last month of 2023, tell yourself:
Every chapter in the script given to you by the heavens has meaning.
All the frustrating regrets are just paving the way for surprises; everything that seemed too late was just in time.
01
The good and bad experiences are all life experiences.
When the writer was 21 years old, he wrote an extremely touching sentence:
“I want to love, want to eat, and want to become the half-bright, half-dark clouds in the sky in an instant.”
When I was young and had little life experience, I was very encouraged by the poetry in this sentence.
But over these years, as I waded through the mundane mud of the mortal world, I came to know that the next sentence revealed the truth of life:
“Life is a slow hammering process.”
When we are young, we all hope to adorn our lives in brocades, but real life is always mired.
Most things in life do not go as wished, and few are spared.
Over the past 11 months, you must have experienced some unbearable days.
The despair of failed relationships, the confusion about the future, the tedium of life, the low point of your career…
Feelings of sadness and disappointment, like dark clouds over your head, make it hard to see the light and let go, and the heart hard to settle.
Perhaps in sleepless nights, you too have shed tears, and in moments of isolation and helplessness, you too have thought of running away.
But on second thought, life is but an experience, not to be taken too seriously.
Whether it is despair or low tide, it is temporary, not to be overly obsessed with.
When you look back after crossing the thorns and reaching the peak, you will find:
The ups and downs of fate are nothing but interludes to laugh about; past hardships have become badges on your shoulders.
In the last month of 2023, tell yourself:
Big things and small things will pass; good things and bad things will eventually become things of the past.
Do not grieve or regret a momentary setback, nor feel sad or hopeless because of a temporary setback.
For the rest of the days, broaden your heart and look at things lightly.
You have to believe that all suffering will turn sweet, and every story will have a good answer.
02
The right people and wrong people are all people who ferry you along.
I once wrote: Everything has the coincidence of chance, yet the outcome is inevitable like fate.
Over a lifetime, everyone we meet has cause and effect.
No matter what kind of person you meet, they are meant to appear in your life at this point, and they will definitely teach you something.
Over the past few days, you may have had many helpless and heartbreaking moments.
Maybe it was the closest person who dealt you a heavy blow; maybe it was a friend you always trusted who gave you the most painful lesson.
Do not be indignant or obsess over it, because every encounter comes to help you grow.
The people who love you teach you kindness and warmth; the people who hurt you teach you independence and strength.
No matter what you have experienced, please be sure to believe:
Those who help you are life’s benefactors, and those who hurt you are disguised mentors.
So there is no need to always resent someone, nor to always dwell on something.
Let the past go with the wind, let go if you can let go, and forgive those you should forgive.
Only when the scars have healed can new skin grow back; only when a story ends can a new chapter begin.
03
All of life’s regrets are a kind of completion.
As 2023 comes to an end, do you have any regrets left?
Maybe you tried very hard for a long time but did not get a certain result, or maybe you hit the south wall but did not resolve the obsession in your heart.
Things in the world are often like this.
The more you want something, the less likely you’ll get it; the more you want to hold onto someone, the less you can hold onto them.
But it’s okay, don’t be sad, don’t worry.
Things always come full circle, if there is a deficit here, there must be compensation elsewhere.
Maybe you struggled to end a wrong relationship, but only by turning away is there a chance to meet the right person;
Maybe your work has met obstacles, but please believe that in the future, you may open up new horizons on a different track.
I really like what the writer once said:
Life will give you answers, but it won’t tell you everything right away.
Only time can make you see clearly the gains and losses in life.
Today you are devastated by loss, how do you know you won’t lose something and then regain it tomorrow;
How do you know now that what goes against your wishes is not fate’s other arrangement?
All you need to do is be a little more patient, and give yourself a little more time.
As Tagore said: Shouting into the empty drum, you have to wait a while before you can hear the long echoes.
In the days ahead, wait quietly, don’t hurry.
The detours you’ve taken will become signposts to new roads, and everything you’ve lost in life will be compensated someday in the future.
If you can endure, and stick to your original aspirations, you will be able to wait until the light is around the corner.
04
Everything that seemed too late was just in time.
Time is too slender, the cracks between fingers too wide, 2023 has come to an end in a blink.
At this moment, you may be blaming yourself for not working hard enough because your goals were not achieved; or you may regret the disintegration of a relationship.
But it’s okay, don’t be afraid, don’t blame yourself, don’t worry.
Tell yourself: I did not end up where I am now because I did not try hard enough, but because I have tried hard enough to persevere until now.
No matter the sorrow or joy, everything has become the past.
No matter the hopes or disappointments, the future lies ahead waiting for you.
In the last month of 2023, I hope you forget about the past and live in the present with your heart set on the future.
Let go of what you cannot figure out, and let go of what you cannot control.
Do not be afraid that it is too late. On the road of life, only those who never stop moving forward get to collide with the life they want.
