She stared back at Earth her mouth dropping open. “Oh — my God!”

She walked up the rock ridge, the air running through her space suit in a steady stream. It felt so heavy and slow against the Moon’s antigravity matter. This did not stop her from doing her from completing her task— she was on a mission! She had been tasked to find another planet that all Earthlings could live on. She had been the last ray of hope in a slowly dying world.

Visiting several planets already, they had not been successful at finding a planet livable. With supplies at a low, they decided to stop on the Moon to fill up. She felt tired with her spirits waning, but she was not going to give up! No family or friends were waiting for her on Earth — she was an orphan. Dropped off at the local church when she was a babe, and was raised in a nearby orphanage for much of her young life.

At an early age, she decided she would be the first orphan in space. There had been so many silly rules — no orphans allowed. Why? Because they could not be counted on — so says the government. The world was going crazy with chaos.

Growing up, she fought tooth and nail. Finally, she decided to barge into NASA's office. She kept going back — being thrown out more times than she could count. Till one day — they decided she had spunk enough to be counted on.

She trained and educated for many years. Even went so far as to get her eyes registered! They were now a computer program with NASA, that was able to tell her things that would be important with her space travel. Not many astronauts could boast so much.

Also — she was part magic. No one knew of course. If they did she would have been banned from the space program years ago. She could hide her appearance and portray herself as a completely normal Earth female. Her silvery blue hair, purple eyes, and pearl skin could all be hidden.

Magic had been banned and a war had broken out. This was not her problem what was her problem was finding a place to live. She looked down at her space watch. It told her that she had been gone for 10 years. She chuckled, “Doesn’t feel like 10 years to me.” Time ran differently up here — she was ok with that.

She had finally made it over the last large hill. She could see the glowing space mushrooms scattering the landscape. She looked up her mouth dropped open.

“Oh my God!?” She stared up at the earth. Magical streams of colors littered the planet in large swarms. The Magic War must have been going on for years because there looked to be no dry land untouched. She looked horrified at the planet’s surface— the space around it was also electrified with magical rays. I may have been too late, she thought. How was she going to tell her crew? Could they even go back?

She stood horrified. Her hands hanging down at her sides she just stood in silence. Little did her crew know — but they may now be on a survival mission for the last crew of the D’Wight Mission to colonize a new world.
