The King of Underdogs — The Mind
Overcoming Adversity at an High Level of Thought

At the turn of the millennium came a best actor award-winning performance by Hollywood star actor Russell Crowe with the classic movie “Gladiator.”
An army general who defied a Roman Emperor and at the height of his power, was stripped of his authority and thrown into slavery.
The ex-general was then forced to fight for his life as a gladiator with death nipping at his every turn with every striking blow.

It was the story of an underdog who had to overcome an insurmountable amount of circumstances to survive. It was simply put, a battle of the mind.

The mind can be your greatest friend or worst enemy. It is more potent than any computer chip.
It must be fed healthy ideas and information or it will become like a bored genius.

Often it can be the most undervalued asset a person possesses. Most people look and money, status, and occupation for strength however some have found their biggest ally in their mind.
One of the greatest travesties is someone who doesn’t respect their mind. However, there are notable examples of people who leveraged their brain power for greatness.

There is the remarkable story of Julius Mwale who was a Kenyan asylum seeker, staying in homeless shelters in New York City 23 years ago.
That same gentleman now is a billionaire famously known for introducing one of the first 2-factor authentication technologies to financial institutions that could help protect banking networks from terrorist attacks.
His technology after 9/11 became the go-to for big banks such as Bank of New York, JP Morgan, and Bank of America.

Those partnerships completely transformed his life and made him a tech mogul.
Often what most would deem as a hopeless situation can be a hidden opportunity.
Sometimes with life challenges the true hurdle can be a person’s outlook on life. Ultimately the biggest asset of an individual may be simply found in what is quietly the king of underdogs, the mind!
