The Joys of a Fresh Pedicure

What color are you wearing today?

It has been a minute.

When I looked down at my feet, I flinched. “Ugh! You are way past due for a pedicure!” That old color expired long ago.

According to Will Smith, summer madness has arrived. It’s the season for ladies and even gents to get a fresh pedicure. Whether you do it at home or have it done professionally. It’s time for the open-toed sandals, slingbacks, and thong slippers. We are hitting up the beach, pools, local water parks, and the “bomb” annual BBQ you look forward to every year.

What’s so great about a pedicure?

It’s lovely when you slide your just-painted feet into those new, sexy slip-ons you bought at a clearance sale last winter. You know, the ones that match perfectly with the fly, white denim shorts, and a t-shirt with your favorite musician plastered across the front?

Pedicures are an excellent form of self-expression and relaxation (unless you’re uncomfortable with strangers messin’ with your feet.) Your nail technician probably has every color known to man on their shelves. Not to mention the skill to create awesome designs. Pedicures aren’t just seasonal but a treat you can do all year round. But there’s something about the Summer pedicure that stands out. I love my pastels and neon that I intentionally coordinate (thanks John Witherspoon) with my attire.

ROY G BIV!

Choosing a color among a sea of polishes can be daunting for a first-timer. It’s literally like ROYGBIV. Remember learning about the rainbow or the electromagnetic spectrum in elementary school? Using that acronym “ROYGBIV” to memorize your colors? If you have no idea what color to try, let your mind flashback to Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, or Violet. The perfect idea for a pedicure might come to mind! Multicolored toes, anyone? LOL!

But truthfully, sporting a bold pink, vibrant blue, or verdant green on your toes could show the casual observer that you’re more than you seem! That buttercup yellow or purple lilac allows you to express your whimsical side as you slip on that sleeveless, flowy floral dress in your closet. (Also brought last winter at the clearance sale!)

I just had my feet done, and I’m already contemplating what color or colors I’ll choose next. BTW, you’re not restricted to just one. That’s what makes it so fun, whether you’re at home or at a nail salon.

So, if pedicures are your thing. Let those beautiful colors show your bodacious or reserved side (depending on the occasion). And if you’ve never done it, I hope you give “pedis” a chance with a clean, accredited nail tech. Word of mouth or Google reviews are some of the best ways to find one in your neck of the woods.

Wish you all happy feet!

Until next time.
