The Joy of Creating Something New, Part 4
A look inside my sketchpad at the combination of art and poetry

During Covid-19 lockdowns, I turned to creativity to ease the aloneness of isolation.
In my studio, I started a new project. Creating a list of rules to fill a sketch pad with drawings and poems. You can find details about that process here.
Each week, I’m sharing 3 pages from my 9 x 12 - inch sketchbook, for a total of 20 articles. Aiming for one each week until complete.

Make me a sea captain losing control,
displeased with my dark shadows,
scrubbing my dark parts with a used toilet brush.
Nodding, pretending to agree to sail the seas.
Rummaging around for something,
something
some ships forget to find.

In the past two weeks
I was to die.
Calmly as possible to the person I want to be.
To sleep at night,
disappear the light.
Enclosed in huge chunks of rock,
A yo-yo
back to the room,
to sleep on intimate terms.

in a cloud of dust,

Removing sorrows
inside candlelight.
Twenty years of meaningless hooks,
one hundred bloodied sweethearts from the cold.
