The Journey an Idea Takes to Reach Success
An idea goes through several steps before shaping up as we visualized it

You’re thinking of starting an online business, you want to write a novel; you want to start a YouTube channel; you want to quit your job and become a musician…
What’s the common element between these sentences above? They’re ideas, new, fresh, and exciting ideas, we all, almost every day, think of at least one idea, no matter if it’s a small one like thinking of going to a baseball game on the weekend or a big one like starting a new business, and of course between these two lay tons of different ideas, but what interests us are the big ones, the life-changing ones, the ideas that could have a major impact on our future.
Those ideas have some intriguing and fascinating features, the process by which they develop inside our heads is beautifully scary, it’s like riding an endless roller coaster where you go through some confusing and overwhelming feelings of happiness, stress, anxiety… you name it, and you might think this roller coaster reaches its finish line when you see your idea achieving some success, but you’re wrong, according to some of the most successful figures in the world from different areas and occupations, this emotional roller coaster doesn’t have a final destination, it only stops when we reach our final destination, when we bid farewell to this absorbing world and put an end to our adventure in it.
An idea might develop differently for each individual. It could have different features and characteristics, but they all start by passing through these 3 phases.
Phase 1:
This is when you think about the idea for the first time, you imagine how it’ll become after some few years, how it’ll impact your local community or even the world, how it’ll change your life forever, so you make plans, doing some research and preparing for the launching day, the day when all your dreams will come true, and you’ll instantly start seeing some results.
This is the time when you’re believing 100% in your idea, you’re super excited and optimistic and eager to see the fruit of your hard work.
Phase 2:
This is the most difficult and challenging phase for every person with an innovative and creative idea, this is when you recognize it’s not that easy as you were thinking, this is when the levels of self-doubt and fear rise to the roof, and you question everything from the beginning.
For someone who’s not prepared mentally for this period, it’ll definitely be soul-crushing, if you’re not prepared to endure this free fall and touch the bottom end, you won’t be able to reach back up and fly toward the sky of limitless opportunities.
This stage is considered the turning point for the whole journey, you either fight through all the hurdles and difficulties and continue in your way trying to achieve your goal, or you won’t be able to jump over that tall fence and you’ll just give up on the idea thinking that not that great anyway or blaming yourself for not being competent or qualified enough.
Phase 3:
This phase is exclusive only for those who force their way through the immense weights of negativity and doubt thrown at them during their time in phase 2, this is when you regain your trust and believe in your idea, you understand that feeling overwhelmed and stressed is a necessary ingredient in order for your idea to achieve the long-awaited success; you understand that doubt and uncertainty are unavoidable to reassure yourself that you truly believe in your idea, that your faith in it is deeper than any kind of fear or hesitation, and that you’re able to get back on track and fight for your chances to reach your destination not affected by some small road bumps along the way.
When we set up a goal we want to achieve, we hope and think it’ll be an easy ride, but if life has thought us anything it’s that nothing comes easily, we’re bound to reach the bottom where lays the most shattering and devastating thoughts that will keep feeding on our high spirit and zest until nothing will be left except for an empty vessel, so unless we rise again and emerge from that dark and deep-sea of negativity and gloominess, we’ll remain prisoners of our own pessimism and terror.
Unfortunately, undergoing the 2nd phase successfully and passing to the third phase doesn’t mean that all will be alright from that moment on, transforming the idea into an emerging project doesn’t guarantee lifelong success and happiness, phase 2 will keep lurking for its next opening to mess with your confidence in the project all over again, this is like the life circle of a creative and innovative idea, no matter what level it reaches, you will always have a short moment of doubt and hesitation, and in those moments hides some sort of clue or wisdom that will lead you to take your project a step further.
Having a clever and revolutionary idea means nothing if we don’t take the actions to bring it to life and see how it goes, everyone has a great idea at some moment in life, yet the majority don’t even try to implement those ideas because of overthinking about the 2nd phase, and about the million ways it could fail, but they neglect thinking about the other million ways it could succeed, so at the end, it’s an equal battle between optimism and pessimism inside our heads, and we decide the winner by simply thinking about it more than the other side.
