Summary

The web content presents a reflective exploration of the concept of polarity, using a poem and personal anecdotes to illustrate how embracing the spectrum between opposites can lead to growth and transformation.

Abstract

The article titled "The Inherent Wisdom of Polarities" delves into the philosophical principle of polarity, emphasizing that opposites are not fundamentally different but are varying degrees of the same essence. Through a series of poetic stanzas, the author reflects on the interplay between darkness and light, suggesting that the discomfort of voids or gaps in our lives can lead to new possibilities and personal evolution. The narrative shifts to a personal experience where the author, after grappling with a period of contrast between expectations and reality, finds guidance in the symbolism of a moth, which represents the integration of darkness and light. The article concludes with insights from Tony Robbins and the author herself, Avia, reinforcing the idea that our perception of life's voids can be transformed, and that all potential lies within the spectrum of polarity.

Opinions

  • The author believes that darkness is not inherently evil but a necessary space for light to emerge, suggesting a duality that is essential for change and growth.
  • There is an opinion that the void, often perceived as negative, is actually a temporary state that precedes new opportunities and rebirth.
  • The author implies that our emotional responses to life's contrasts, such as sadness or grief, are influenced by our beliefs and perceptions.
  • The article posits that by surrendering to the void and trusting in the process, one can transcend the discomfort of life's polarities.
  • The symbolism of the moth is used to convey the message that life's opposites, such as loss and rebirth, are interconnected and that embracing this can lead to a positive transformation.
  • The author emphasizes that the meaning we assign to our experiences, including the void, is a choice that shapes our reality, drawing on the wisdom of Tony Robbins.
  • The conclusion reiterates the power of perception in unlocking the potential within the spectrum of polarity, suggesting that our potential is not fixed but is dependent on how we view our experiences.

The Inherent Wisdom of Polarities

A poem and reflection

There’s no intrinsic difference in the extremes of a polarity, just varying degrees of the same thing.

There isn’t inherent evil in darkness but an opportunity for light to appear. Why does any extreme of the polarity cause pain, struggle, or fear?

A void may come out of the darkest Night of the Soul, but also a state of wonder where endless possibilities may be born.

There’s power in duality, the power to change, shift, and evolve. All potential lives within the polarity and lies on our perception’s point.

This poem was inspired by life lessons learned from understanding the principle of polarity.

Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.

— The Kybalion. The Three Initiates.

Once upon a time, there was a period of my life with a notable contrast between my life experience and expectations. This wasn’t necessarily a ‘bad thing,’ yet my point of perception focused on the gap between where I was and where I thought I’d be.

That gap or void can be very uncomfortable, especially if ‘point B’ isn’t an option anymore. So, apart from the unpleasant feeling of emptiness, there’s also a feeling of loss and grief, exacerbated by the belief that ‘being in that void is a terrible thing.’

One day, after having a pity party with myself, I asked ‘Spirit,

How can I surrender to this ‘void’ and trust that everything will be okay?

At that precise moment, a moth landed on my kitchen bench.

The symbolism of moths is about the principle of polarity. Moth teaches us that darkness and light are integrated co-creative life forces. Although moths come out at night, they’re drawn to the light.

Life can’t evolve without loss and rebirth. The appearance of moths is a positive omen that the sadness we may be feeling is temporary, and new doors will open.

The principle of polarity holds immense power when we realize that opposites aren’t ‘different in nature, just in degrees’ and let go of the belief that one extreme or the other is a ‘bad thing.’ For example, darkness and light are neither inherently good nor bad.

The void may feel like darkness and emptiness, but it also creates space for growth.

Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it.

— Tony Robbins

How we view ‘the void’ is only a matter of perception. Hence, we can change our point of perception and embrace the endless possibilities that live in the spectrum of polarity.

All potential lives in the spectrum of polarity. Your potential depends on your point of perception.
