The Impostor Syndrome is Ruining Your Success
You don’t have to feel like a fraud all the time
How to Detect an “Imposter” Inside of You
70% of successful people face an imposter syndrome, and you might be one of them. I often blame myself for being a procrastinator and not doing enough for personal growth.
But wait, I have a job, run a blog, write my master thesis, and still blame myself for not being productive.
I have recently realized that this is what an imposter syndrome does to me. How to figure out if you struggle with low self-esteem too?
These questions have helped me detect the root cause of my anxiety:
1.Do I think my success is a matter of luck or a mistake?
If you give a positive answer to this question, you risk devaluing yourself and your capabilities. Such a mental state leads to severe depression and a lack of motivation.
2. Why should I start doing it if there is someone better than me?
If you catch this thought when you plan to gain new skills, develop a career path, or discover a new income source — it’s a sign of an imposter syndrome.
3. What if no one is interested in what I am doing?
Having a fear that your job will be criticized can make you stop doing what you’ve started.
You know what’s the most ridiculous thing with the imposter syndrome? You are already successful! Yes! You are! You just don’t accept it. Smart people are always full of skepticism and uncertainty, making it difficult to recognize how wonderful they are.
I’ve accepted that I’ll never be able to learn everything — I’ll never know every new marketing tool, every Google algorithm, marketing hacks — and that’s okay. Nobody will know all of these things (and that’s okay too).
Moreover, I have a few rules that help manage my imposter syndrome and deal with stress:
- 1: Do not compare yourself to others.
- 2: No need to be a perfectionist; you just have to be good.
- 3: There is no quick win; each success story is a result of tremendous work.
- 4: Digital detox is important. Let your mind rest a bit and get out of daily tasks.
You have your own life, don’t waste your time looking at others and how they make six figures income in 1 month. Set goals and celebrate each small step that brings you closer to achieving your dream.
