The Human Condition
Ephemeral
Starting these lines by thanking you dear reader for choosing to read my mind. I enjoy the occasion to wish you an abundant and splendid year 2022. May it be as great as it can be for you and your loved ones.
From seeds we were conceived, Non-consentant from the beginning. Fully aleatory, yet Divinely made. One in billion, we won the “lottery”. What a journey! A temporal one though. Since we are all heading to one place. Each day that goes brings us closer to that day. It’s scary, isn’t it? And at the same time it feels like a drive to me. A wake up call each day. Each day gone is gone. No replay nor rewind mode available. We keep moving forwards confidently. Excited to write the next page.
Because despite all: The climbing, The falling.
The perseverance
The pain, The healing.
The disappointments.
The hope, the joy… …(add your list)…
It is a rare chance we were given. To be right here, right now. Able to experience this journey.
The temporal condition.
I close up my post today with a beautiful extract from a book I’m currently listening to: “Marriage Pact” / Michelle Richmond. It is when the main character (who is a psychotherapist) is asked by one of his patients what the purpose of life is. Not the meaning, the purpose.
Strive to be all good, but know that you are not.
Try to enjoy everyday, but know that you will not.
Try to forgive others and yourself, forget the bad stuff.
Remember the good.
Eat cookies, but not too many !
Challenge yourself to do more, to see more.
Make plans, celebrate when they come to be and persevere when they don’t.
Laugh when things are good, laugh when things are bad.
Love with abandon, love selflessly.
Life is simple, life is complex.
And it is short.
The only real currency is time, use it wisely.
What does being human mean to you?
