The holidays can be hectic.
Our schedules get thrown off with late nights shopping, attending events, and preparing homemade holiday meals.
We feel the pressures to attend every event, complete every end-of-the-year project, and be around people may not be fond of being around.
The holidays are reminders of old memories. Some of these could be priceless, and some you’d like to forget about. Not all of us have had happy holidays every year.
For some of us, it makes us miss the family members that have passed away. Grief tends to hit differently during this time of year.
My best advice to you is to take care of yourself.
Don’t lose yourself in the hustle of the holidays.
Take care of YOU because YOU deserve it.
Here is my poem that highlights the reality of the holidays and the importance of self-care.

Handling the Hustle of the Holidays
We can handle the hustle of the holidays
Acknowledge the stress and chaos in many ways
The holidays can be tough for some
With endless lists of things to be done
And many trips and errands to run
Don’t forget that the holidays should be fun!
Don’t cave into the pressure of looking and doing your best
Remind yourself to breathe, and it’s okay to rest
For some it involves traveling to the ones we love
And putting the needs and wants of our kids above
our own for the holidays that they deserve
And many homemade tasty dishes of food to serve
Anxiety filled for social gatherings, tables lined with cuisine so sweet
Students scrambling with tests and assignments to complete
Overwhelm with the end-of-the-term deadlines to meet
This time is filled with memories of loved ones that have passed
Savor this time, the years go by too fast
Please remember to take care of you this holiday season
Make your health your number one reason
