AN ODE TO A SPECIAL BLOKE
The Highlight of My Day
When the bad boy rides into town, the marks go down

The man sits on his trusty steed, And rides into the night. Tall body tensed with urgent need, His poise an awesome sight.
A quick-draw kid — no time to bide, There’re writers’ words to cover. A leather holster at his side, Containing sticks of colour.
Authors wait with bated breath, Adversary unseen. Then suddenly, a virtual death — Their stuff is turning green!
Who is this legend of the dark? A myst’ry man of fear? He comes and goes, and leaves his mark On all our words, once clear.
We’ll never know what makes him tick, Or why he rides the night, To turn the tales we think as slick Into a gruesome sight!
I wrote this limerick to celebrate David Perlmutter and his highlighter, but I also want to thank all the supportive, engaging people on Medium. I have so many awesome Medium friends that I‘m bound to miss a few. If I’ve missed you, please forgive me — I’m pleading senility.
