The Hiatus is Over.
Heading back to where I left off.
Four years ago, I walked Route 66 — from Chicago to Santa Monica and blogged about it daily. Now, I am reflecting on the lessons learned along the way.
The saga continues… (Read from the start)
October 22, 2016, marked day 95 of my journey. That evening I boarded the Greyhound bus to head back to Oklahoma City to continue where I had left off.
Two weeks earlier, I returned to Houston to speak at an event and celebrate my son’s birthday with him. While I was there, my MIL passed away, and my hiatus was extended.
It all worked out great.
I had lost my balloon apron before I left Oklahoma, and I mentioned that in my speech at the Metaphysical Metamorphosis. One of the attendees came to me later and asked how much it would cost to replace it. She PayPal-ed me the funds on the spot.
I was able to work in the usual places while I was in town and met a lot of my regulars who wanted to know where I had been. The kid whose t-shirt is featured above had asked his parents to go to the restaurant because he wanted to get a balloon from Santa Claus. Serendipity is such a beautiful thing.
While I enjoyed my stay in Houston, I was eager to get back to my walk.
As I think back and ponder.
One of the main reasons I had undertaken the whole journey was to take my faith in God to the next level. While I experienced its manifestation as I traveled, I am only beginning to appreciate it now as we go through 2020; what a year it has been.
