The Heart Is the Place Where I Find You

A poem dedicated to my best soul-friend who left for his heavenly abode.

Where did you go The disbelief, pain in heart and gap widens

Your life was an inspiration You struggled a lot, my soldier

Struggling for each breath was a war You succeeded infinite times but gave up at last

No, it was not your fault, my dear You are a warrior in every intention

Not just in the hospital, but how we faced life difficulties From personal to professional, we saw a lot together

We held hands and crossed life's exams We succeeded and failed in some

But we knew we had each other And that was sufficient for us

For more than a decade of close togetherness, We could communicate with eyes and hearts

We both were each other's pillar of support From smallest to largest of obstacles

I vividly remember our first meeting Running to and fro where we bumped

I have never listened to such a soothing voice The gift of grace that you had

I knew you were special Our friendship grew closed and closer

We knew, understood, and accepted each other The way we were, we were abundant with one another

Unconditional support Unwavering innocence of love

No name can suffice what we meant No bondage of relations yet one in every sense

Love is an understated word That connects us two

It is from the soul that we are united Even if we both are in two different worlds

You may have left the body Your loving, innocent personality

But I know from deep inside Love binds us intimately

I may not see you, listen to you In ways that were routine

But the heart is the place where I find you Nowhere else to go

Hands on my heart, with eyes closed I inhale you and feel you deep within.

My best friend, Fauzan, left for his heavenly abode last week. After struggling for more than a month in ICU against COVID, his body finally gave up.
