The Healthiest Type of Fitness

The times when we stretch ourselves to run the extra distance, to push through just a few more reps, or to go beyond what we thought we could do we become stronger and more equipped to handle the next challenge. To run a marathon, serve in the military, or play a sport you have to be in good physical condition.

Physical fitness is so great for our bodies. Overcoming our comfort zones makes us stronger, the resistance of weight grows our muscles, and cardio enhances our endurance, but spiritual fitness is more important than physical fitness. They are similar in principle in that when we go further with the Lord than is comfortable for our fleshly bodies it brings us life and life more abundantly through Jesus.

The kind of life Jesus brings is so far beyond the life that comes from physical fitness. We are not supposed to be comfortable because the Lord has called us to much greater things. We can’t settle for playground sports when the Lord has called you and I to be an Olympic athlete.

Eventually our bodies get older and are less able to handle what our youthful self can do with ease, and one day our bodies will fade away entirely. Our mission in life is to sustain it. Eating healthy and exercising helps our time here but there is only one way to sustain life forever and that is through a relationship with Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.

He has called us also to give others a chance at sustaining their life by accepting Him as Lord and Savior also. Funny enough, the theme of life is life.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:11)

And

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

So just as the old saying goes, you are what you eat, the more of the world we consume the more like that we will be, but the more of God we consume the more like Him we will be.

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

Be sober minded and choose correctly the true path toward life. We only get one chance and cannot make the wrong choice. If you haven’t yet chosen Jesus today is your day of salvation. Turn from your old ways, accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life, believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that He is Lord. If you’ve done that and meant it, welcome to the family. There’s no better life than with Jesus because apart from Him we can do nothing.

“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:5)

The Lord is working in your life.

Peace be unto you,

Donald
