The Harsh Reality of Not Posting on Medium for a Week

Let this be a lesson for all writers

It’s hard to be consistent, especially on a platform like Medium where the competition gets harder each and every day as new writers keep on joining the Partner Program and getting their voices heard.

I learned the hard way that the daily views you get on Medium will take a massive decline if you go days without posting any new content.

While it was never my intention to go over a week straight without uploading any new stories, it served me a lesson to not take this platform for granted and if you want to soon develop organic growth you should prioritize posting at least 5 stories a week.

If you haven’t yet joined the Partner Program, you can use my referral link and become eligible to get paid for each story you come up with. Join now for only $5 a month, it’s a smart investment that will eventually result in a profit depending on how strong your work ethic is.

Backstory

Trust me, I did not want any of this to happen but looking back on it now I’m glad that it did because I learned a valuable lesson.

For those wondering where I have been, the removal of my wisdom teeth and immediately getting sick right after the healing resulted in over a week of inactivity. Definitely not my best week, that’s for sure.

Here’s a look at my stats recently, as you can see I was averaging a solid 100+ views a day but as time went on and no new content was being posted, my stats took a steep decline for this month.

Takeaway

Let this serve as a lesson for all writers and aspiring writers who want to grow fast on Medium, consistency is the best thing you can do no matter how long your stories are. Even a one-minute story every day will let the algorithm know that you truly care about the content you create.

It’s nearly impossible to get views passively if you aren’t coming up with new articles. Another thing that didn’t help was that I was going through some burnout which only made my motivation even worse. How can you avoid burnout?

It happens to any content creator, something key that I’ve learned was to come up with headlines ideas and brainstorm the content from there based on the title.

I also want to give a shoutout to writers like Edina Abena Jackson, Nick, and Jenn Leach who have been impressing me with their content as of late.

I’m making sure that I will never go over a week without posting, hopefully, I can go back to how I was doing before I took the break.
