Summary

The author reflects on the harmonious balance of nature, contrasting it with human life, from the perspective of their mountain home where they observe various birds, plants, and animals in a symbiotic relationship.

Abstract

The article titled "The Harmonious Balance of Nature" delves into the author's personal experience of living in seclusion amidst nature, drawing a parallel between the seamless coexistence of flora and fauna and the complexities of human life. The author describes the beauty of their surroundings, including a small mountain, fruit-bearing trees, and a variety of birds like the Emerald Tucan and a Colibri-Hummingbird, which they observe from their tiny house. The narrative touches on the author's childhood dreams of flying and their appreciation for the companionship among animals, such as the cows and the white birds that keep them company. The text also poetically compares the growth habits of different plants, such as coffee trees, banana trees, papaya trees, beans, squash, and tomatoes, each thriving in their preferred conditions. The author concludes by musing on the idea that, like tomatoes striving for the perfect balance of sun and shade, humans too seek equilibrium in life to flourish.

The Harmonious Balance of Nature

Why can´t we live the same?

Views from my kitchen

Yesterday was the first time I left my little hideout in about a week. This morning, I woke up to the sun attempting to come through the colored panes on my windows.

It could not, so I gave them a nudge as I swung the windows wide open and allowed him to permeate the inside of my tiny house.

My view is of a small mountain, with cows occasionally grazing.

A tree calls to the birds as she offers them fruit as a snack. My favorite bird is Esmerelda.

She is not just one but multiple, also known as the Emerald Tucan or Tucancito Esmeralda. So, Esmerelda, they are gorgeous.

The first time I saw them, I loved their slightly yellowish beaks and emerald-colored bodies. Often, two or three of them are in the tree outside my windows, hopping from branch to branch, looking for the ripe fruit.

Yesterday, I saw a Colibri-Humingbird in the garden. It was the first one I had seen while living on this mountain. She was beautiful, flattering back and forth while looking for the juiciest flower.

If I walk to the end of the driveway, there is a lookout, and you can see the entire valley. Some days, I dream of having a small house tucked away deep in the mountains, and then I step outside.

The views from the top of the mountain are so incredible that it is as if I am a bird perched on my tree, and if I step off the mountain, I will soar high above the clouds.

Views from the top

When I was young, my cousins and I always asked, ¨If you had one superpower, what would it be¨? Mine has never waived since I was a child to fly like a bird.

Where I lived before in Jericó, I was a bit lower elevated, and the birds were not as plentiful. I could hear them, but I could not see them, and every day, I thought and wondered where the birds were hiding.

Then, I moved up high on my mountain, and Esmerelda greeted me on my first visit to this house. It is a tiny apartment; however, as I sit in my hammock, I can lift my eyes from the screen and see hundreds of little birds dancing among the trees.

Yesterday, two big white ones were off to find the cows. They like to hang out with the cows to eat all the bugs off them.

I did not capture the birds, but the cows wanted to say ¨hola¨

They are beautiful, tall white birds; you can not miss them, as they keep the cow company. After all, cows are social animals. I find cows especially interesting, too.

If there is a fence that separates them, you will still find them hanging out with each other, even with a fence divided, to be near each other, companionship.

It’s interesting to think about things in nature and what they like. The coffee trees like to grow on the side of a hill, and plantain/banana trees enjoy their company.

The papaya tree wants to touch the sun and grows tall and proud.

The beans are crawling up, the squash is spreading out, and the tomatoes are trying to maintain the perfect balance of sun and shade.

living in harmony

Like us, the tomatoes try to balance life so we can bloom and be fruitful.
