The H.A.P.P.Y Method To Being Happy

After all, happiness is the root of our desires

Everything we do stems from the desire for happiness.

Whether we consciously realise it or not, happiness is at the heart of all our desires.

If we want a promotion at work, it’s because we want to be given more opportunities to succeed and prove ourselves, which brings career satisfaction and in turn makes us happy.

When we work hard at a relationship it’s because that person means so much to us and keeping them in our lives causes us to be happy.

However, our happiness levels fluctuate and this is completely normal. We are only human and riding the emotional rollercoaster of life is all a part of the experience.

When we are in a lower state, it is important to honor our emotions and then pick ourselves back up.

We can’t have the highs if we don’t have the lows.

There are some behavioral habits that we can adopt that will help us to maintain our state of happiness when we are in this place, and to pull us out of a rut when we aren’t.

Here is the H.A.P.P.Y method to being happy.

Hopeful

Being in a hopeful state as opposed to living in despair allows us to see the brighter side of life. This isn’t about being toxically positive; it’s about knowing that even when things are tough there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.

Being hopeful for the future and knowing that things will improve or generally being hopeful about life is how we can ride the storm and come out the other side stronger than before.

Appreciative

Showing appreciation and gratitude for all that we have creates the feeling of abundance and when we are on this vibration we become a magnet for our desires and attract further positivity into our lives.

Having appreciation for all that we have shifts our focus away from all that we lack and allows us to be grounded in the moment.

Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations and being in this state creates happiness.

Playful

We get so caught up in our responsibilities that we neglect playfulness in our lives. When life becomes stale and stagnant it is probably because there is a lack of fun and new experiences.

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of forgetting that life is meant to be enjoyed. We won’t look back and be grateful for all the responsibilities we had. We want to look back and be grateful that we lived life to the fullest.

Making play a non-negotiable in our lives allows us to enjoy life. It is a reminder that life is happening for us, not to us.

Patience

Being a patient person is a game changer and impacts our lives more than we realise. When we rush things or force them we create greater resistance and waste our energy feeling frustrated. We can’t attract our desires from a place of frustration.

Patience teaches us that everything happens in divine timing and creates inner calm.

We even see impatient angry people in our environment all the time and this creates friction within our society. If more people were patient our world would be a peaceful place.

Yes person

Becoming a yes person is hard, but it means that we seize the opportunities that are presented to us. We are so skilled at talking ourselves out of things but struggle to talk ourselves into them.

We ask ourselves “what if everything goes wrong?” when we really should be saying “what if everything works out?”.

There is a fine line between not wanting to get our hopes up and being completely pessimistic. We will never know what lies on the other side of the door unless we step through and say yes.

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” — Denis Waitley
