Dignified Dream Chasing
The Grown-Up’s Guide to Happiness
Pursuing Dreams with Dignity
It is increasingly difficult to find mature individuals who act consciously, accepting what they cannot change, respecting others, and striving for what they want in a clean manner, without deviating from the ethics that should guide behavior and attitudes in society.
Most of us seem to remain stuck in adolescence, maintaining a selfish attitude and holding onto the idea that the world was made to serve us and that people are obligated to please us.
Own up to your mistakes, review actions that did not yield positive results, have the decency to include yourself as one of the causes of your own sadness.
Blaming others entirely for what displeases or goes wrong prevents the necessary change in attitudes towards life.
Reflecting on what we are doing with our lives, on the need to change to escape the web of problems that surrounds us, will be the only way to decrease the negative burden that surrounds us.
Accept what cannot be changed, understanding that you cannot always get everything, win every time, or be right every time.
Deal with frustrations without blaming the world for your woes, without revolting against people who only want your well-being.
Every rejection can be a cause of sadness and disappointment, but it should never feed defeatist feelings, nor should it move you to the sandy terrain of giving up on everything.
Understand that you will never be able to please everyone, that you will not be universally liked, and that there will be those who will stop loving you. Sometimes love, affection, friendship, and relationships end because the other person has the right not to want to be with you anymore.
Do not force anything or anyone to remain in your life because, in truth, everything that stays without will has been gone for a long time.
Learn to wait your turn to speak, to express yourself, to appear, to act. Do not trample on the lives of others so that yours always stands out.
We all have our place in the world and in someone’s life, and it is not necessary to speak more than everyone else, stand out everywhere, or diminish others for it.
When we fight with dignity for what we want, we will always find a peaceful place with true love where we can rest from our daily struggles.
Do not speak ill of others behind their backs, do not fuel gossip based on unproven assumptions, do not believe what you heard someone say without seeing it for yourself.
Staying away from malice keeps us safe, away from problems, preventing us from hurting without reason, from speaking ill without basis, from losing what is vital in our lives.
The more trust we show, the more chances we have of reaching the right place with the right people.
The purpose of every human being is to be happy, and happiness does not come to us on a silver platter. However, trying to achieve it without seeing anything or anyone ahead will only serve to divert us from all the good that life always reserves for us.
It takes maturity to accept what cannot be changed and to continue steadfastly in the pursuit of dreams, without harming, without hurting, without diminishing anyone along the way.
Ultimately, it takes being grown-ups to live with a better chance of being happy.
