The Great Transition We Are In- From Game A to Game B

To be a successful leader and change agent in the 21st century it’s essential to understand the difference between the old game we’ve been playing, which we call “Game A,” and the new game that’s critical to ensure the survival of our species, which we call “Game B.”
So what is Game A?
Game A is the old game we’ve been playing for the last couple of hundred years.
It’s essentially a degenerative system that sucks resources out of the earth and tends to exploit people. It benefits a few, mostly elites. The exclusive nature of the system means it’s hierarchical and it tends to favor one capital: that is, financial capital, so Game A is often called “mono-capitalism”.
Now the way that Game B is different from Game A is that it’s pretty much the opposite. Instead of degenerating our biosphere and our human beings in our societies, it is regenerating them.
Instead of being exclusive and favoring the few and the powerful, it is inclusive.
It is much fairer and much more socially beneficial.
And finally, Game B is focused on the development of human beings to their full potential, and recognizing that this takes multi-capital metrics and approaches to realize that potential.
So one of the key insights is that there are three different levels at which we need to tackle this transition.
The first is we need to “Reboot.”
A lot of us are going to be in reactive mode, recovering from everything, from COVID to the economic crisis, to all of the other things that have been thrown at us at this point in history. It’s a very tough time for a lot of people. We’re also dealing with the endgames of patriarchy, racism, sexism, and dozens of other “isms” that are reserved for the dustbin of history
And so it’s really about coping successfully, whether it’s yourself, your family, your community your company, your organization, or your society.
How do you “Reboot” some of those functions that are absolutely essential for our survival and our future thriving? Healing ourselves has to accompany healing each other and healing our planet.
Then the next level which we can focus on after we’ve rebooted is to figure out how to “Regenerate.”
“Regeneration” is both recreating the resources that we already have, and perhaps even more of them, better quality resources, but also to adapt and shift our mindsets, our behaviors, and our culture and systems in the way we actually transform the game from Game A to Game B.
And of course, “ transformation literacy” is one of the critical components of being a successful change agent because you cannot make effective change happen unless you have a high-quality understanding of the process of transformation.
The second element of regeneration is: one needs to become familiar with the best practices in excellence and management and leadership, and how that integrates with innovation and technology, to drive the transition effectively.
And there are lots of opportunities there for people to align that with their own personal purpose and mission.
And finally, how can we act in a sustainable and responsible way while we are doing this?
We are going to introduce you to a concept called “thriveability” which is beyond “sustainability.”
It’s enhancing our ability to thrive in Game B rather than trying to sustain Game A.
The next level up is once we’ve rebooted and regenerated, we’re capable of “Renaissance.” Here we regenerate entire cultures starting in our own communities and organizations.
This is where we get to shape the future as leaders and change agents, and the question here is: what kind of leadership is suitable for this new world we’re going into?
What does that mean for you and your own leadership style, skills and characteristics?
We’ll be exploring the great transition in our Monday clubhouse calls in the Global Change Agent Club- you’re welcome to join us.
