The golden earring
Selfish, Shellfish

Tied up hair in a bun; dangling gold hooped earrings rings
I gave my gold heart to you; served on a shining golden platter; in emails, in messages, I wore my heart on my cuffed up desperate sleeves and buried deep my soul in agony
you selfish, shellfish soul; you spit it out; no remorse; no response
an oyster my world; you — the robber of all my treasured pearls
how do you do it? how do you act so indifferent?
the chefs are waiting; sharpening their knives for your review
each napkin folded differently; the cuisine is bemused; it served you too spicy hot; you got what you asked for; so what are the tantrums in the air for?
searching for shiny, neat cutlery, in restaurants, forgetting the pile of dirty dishes at home; the taste buds lost the menu card, down the lines of murky restrooms
so many books you’ve read; have you not read the one that matters, which menu card are you reading from? Mine or hers?
you treat only your own with kindness and test the rest; a tyrant soul
women are ribbed from a man’s body; to be loved, cared for, and protected
she can be strong in public but she weeps when alone
I needed you but you were never here, if you’re too busy with your own life, why did you drag and attract me to yours? Cruel fated destiny!
you poor selfish, ruthless soul; you took and mistook; I’ve nothing banked for me now
someday you’ll weep when the sky crawls, someday you’ll taste the poison of the soul that you sold in the devil’s court
Oh! Is the devil’s hold still on you; or you are the devil in disguise? Suited to deceive; what do you receive? I must be told!
you cruel, cruel, selfish, shellfish, soul!
