The Gold Dust on Her Wings
A poem of being inspired by Nature, by Australia, by Beauty

I wrote this poem on a spontaneous whim as I tried to articulate my love for nature and explain why I photograph it. It’s part of a wonderful photography masterclass run by renowned photographer Steve Parish.
The photo above has come to symbolise everything that I hold dear about Australian flora and fauna. Photography allows me to freeze and relive the wonder of my encounters over and over again
She is a Cairns Birdwing Butterfly and she is quick and subtle and magnificent. Nonetheless, look closer and she takes your breath away with hidden treasures of Nature’s artistic flair.
The Gold Dust on Her Wings
The gold dust on her wings Not everyone can see But Nature with her sings Melody for you, for me
Tho’ her fancy mate Has wings of vibrant hue Her black and sparkle flutter Treasure for me, for you
Look closely at her visage Glory in Nature’s tale Of hidden beauty and light Look me, look you, detail
Have you seen her sparkle? Have you seen her light? For you, for me, look closely Nature’s beauty in flight.
Thanks for reading.
