The Gift was Invisibility

The Task was Adaptability

In order to be adaptable, She needed to learn to be invisible. She learned every vowel and syllable, Till she spoke the language with fluency, Her profile was enhanced with her adaptability.

She learned to work with everyone, She had her failures but usually won. It was hard at first to fit in, She changed the way she felt within. Her career was now one big win.

There were not many women, In the field of science and research, She found her niche and made her mark. She always had that scientific spark, It helped her to make fire from that spark.

There are many women in science today, Yet, there was a time when there were few. Women scientists are no more invisible, They stand out and are very visible. They are adaptable and very capable.

Poet’s Note: This poem is dedicated to all those women who are making a mark in society, in the field of science and other fields of human endeavor, that used to be the domain of men, decades ago.
