The Future Of The Male Grooming Industry
The future has a lot of scope for male beauty clinics

A peek into male grooming
The men want to look good showing their wonderful personalities. A man’s professionalism and presentability are extremely important in competitive workplaces. A person may be very good at this work but looking sloppy is not appreciated in the work sphere.
Social awareness and social media have brought about a change in the outlook of men. They have started focusing a lot on their looks.
No longer is the grooming industry exclusive to women but a very desired domain for men too.
A case in example I went to have lunch with my friends on Christmas Eve. Just next to the restaurant was a little board and my eyes were fixed on it which said Men body wax and light make-up. I immediately clicked the picture. This is the subject I have been wanting to discuss for a long time.
Another incident I was reminded by another incident while taking a walk a friend of mine who accompanied me said that she had to attend a wedding and was ready to leave to get formally dressed. She was waiting for her husband and son to come home from the beauty parlor. This was the first shock I got. I had never heard of male parlors. I had heard about spas that they frequently went to but not beauty parlors.
Another incident Last month I went in a beauty parlor that said it was unisex and when I went in I saw a lot of men over there. Now I know for sure that men want to be as well-groomed as women.
The future of the male grooming industry looks great.
- When you go to the market you will find a large number of gender-specific products have registered significant growth in male-identifying customers.
- Many new products in the world markets skincare brands have specifically targeted at men that include phrases like “For Him” in their names. A lot of perfumes and skincare and hair care products that are sold at duty-free shops in international airports in the world are especially shown to customers with the tag for males.
- The male customers become increasingly comfortable with skincare, brands beyond shaving, and aftershave lotions. There are new products available for hair, beard, foot care, and face creams.
- The men’s market now has a new variety of hair dryers, hair removers, beard trimmers, waxing, and cosmetic products.
The men have now shown that they have more interest in just being the stereotype where no makeup is necessary for masculinity. They have an individual pattern of personality.
Why do men need special skincare products?
Men’s skincare is a business that is experiencing unprecedented growth, a business of making men look good and building their confidence. Safe skincare is of equal importance for men as well as women.
Some of the products are specifically designed for men, keeping their skin’s biological needs in mind discussed below:
- Aftershave skin problems Shaving exfoliates the men’s faces. When they drag a razor on their cheeks, it scrapes microscopic pieces of dead skin. In order to keep follicles from getting clogged and causing ingrown hairs, they require a post-shave product, to treat redness and irritation.
- Skin hardness Men have thicker skin due to testosterone than women and it is about 25 percent thicker than women. Men have a requirement for heavy-hitting products to fully absorb their benefits. Using a good scrub will help cleansers, moisturizers, and other facial treatments penetrate through to the deeper layers.
- Oily skin Men have more sebum than women. This is related to androgens being caused by male hormones. It means that men are highly prone to oily skin, breakouts, blackheads, and clogged pores. They need skin-care products to focus on fighting oil production and unclogging pores. To keep skin blemish-free they need anti-shine moisturizers as well.
- Collagen Boost Men’s skin has higher collagen density, which is the reason that they have fewer wrinkles and slower aging. Still, they require sunscreen, to guard against early signs of skin damage because UV radiation can make them look older in years.
The takeaways
There are a few important reasons why the male grooming industry has started booming. Some of the following reasons are there:
#1. Biological difference between men and women: Women and men have differences in their skin type and tone and need different types of treatment which have now been recognized.
#2. Stress factor: The global world and work-oriented problems are seen both for females and males. The skin gets stressed and overstrained. Just as women need facials males also require it to feel rejuvenated.
#3. Massage: Special body massages are required for males and females because of the different pressure points. The oils to treat the body are different and so is the methodology of dealing with the body.
#4. Stereotype: Males freely go to beauty parlors as both women and male parlors are separate and there are unisex ones as well. In most parlors, a special section is now added for men. Men are no longer shy, nor is there a taboo that they cannot visit beauty parlors.
To conclude
The statistic depicts the estimates of the future size of the global male grooming market from 2018 to 2024. According to it, by the year 2024, it will become worth about 81.2 billion U.S. dollars.
There’s been a shift in a man’s perception toward grooming. Now it has become acceptable for men to spend money on grooming themselves, which promotes better skincare health and an improvement in appearance.
During the lockdown, men started searching online for new products and watching instructional videos on how to groom their beards or how to get a salon-like shave at home.
They were also lured towards facials and creams that they could buy online and break away from stereotypes through quiet experimentation.
The following quote is apt not only for women but men also:
“Good grooming is integral and impeccable style is a must. If you don’t look the part, no one will want to give you time or money”. Daymond John
