The fashion business is a sunrise industry in the world. It has a lot of creative and talented designers to put forward the beautiful clothes in the world. Everyone wants to be the best dressed today and there is a range of clothes available in the market.
There are clothes for daily wear, nightwear, casual wear, sportswear, and party wear.
“A lady once said that she had nothing to wear although her cupboard was full of clothes. Why said her friend, “you are always smartly dressed, what happened to your clothes?” Aww she said, I have party wear, home wear, but sometimes you need clothes that you can wear only at a specific occasion, this I do not have”.
Although men and women keep on saying they have a lot of clothes but when they have to go somewhere on an occasion they really never have anything to wear.This is why fashion will always be a sunrise industry
The future trends of the fashion industry
Fashion keeps on changing. With new trends, ideas, and technology it is evolving and has a great future. There will be a lot of innovation in the coming years and with changing, customer trends and demands the industry will be transformed.
1 . Understanding customer preferences through data The future of fashion brands is to understand customer preferences, and use data to monitor the shopping and create products that the customers feel fit their requirements. The role of data will be important in the coming years
Predictive analytics will be used to help the fashion industry in innovating and balancing future demand and supply of products through algorithms.
Amazon has developed a machine learning program to assess if an item looks “stylish”. Google is testing user-driven AI fashion design that uses algorithms to create new pieces and styles. Data will be the buzzword of the fashion industry.
2 . The factor of Sustainability Fashion contributes to waste and climate change, as many fabrics are neither sustainable nor use eco-friendly methods of production.
In my institute when I did a workshop on sustainability a young entrepreneur raised her hand and wanted to speak on the platform. Although she was a participant I allowed her to come and speak to the students. She said that she was only 23 and proudly told us that she was from Mathura a small town in India. Two years ago she had started a unit where she bought old jeans from students and made beautiful new fabrics. She told us that denim is the worst fabric for sustainability and so she recycled it into a new product. Her fabrics and clothes were super class.
Several NGOs are taking fashion towards sustainability and eco-friendly products.
Fashion pieces that are more eco-friendly and designed to stay and become the new wave of fashion.
It is stated through surveys that 88% of consumers want brands to be environmentally friendly. Fabric production and the fashion industry create between 2 to 8 percent of global carbon emissions.
“Textile dyeing is also the second-largest polluter of water globally: and it takes around 2,000 gallons of water to make a typical pair of jeans”. A number of sustainable fashion brands are growing and are innovative practices in the future.
3 . Fashion goes digital The future of fashion is going to increase online, and brands will have to create and sell clothes in a competitive digital world.
Consumers have started preferring the convenience of online shopping, even if they cannot try an item in person. This will create an immersive digital shopping experience with virtual fit or sizing tools, virtual showrooms, and virtual stylists in the future.
Retailers like Adidas, Macy’s, and Modcloth are adopting virtual dressing rooms and bringing the technology mainstream by using AR and VR using to virtually try out clothes to help customers virtually purchase their clothes and reduce return rates by 36%.
Consumers making purchase decisions in person will still be happy to look at the designs digitally. Many fashion brands are now addressing fashion through virtual fashion shows and are digitizing their designs into 3D prototypes on avatars
4 . Simple comfortable fashion styles Covid-19 has brought out several changes in the fashion world. The future of fashion will be more comfort-oriented clothes designed to be more simple. Fashion brands have brought in their styling to loungewear. More informal and less formal clothes.
I see most of my friends looking for comfort rather than fussing over too much design. I ask my friends what do you like wearing and they say jogging suits and more informal clothes which are comfortable throughout the day.
5. Designer clothes.
Designer clothes will continue to be the butter and jam of the industry. Hi profile politicians, actors, and actresses in the film world, fashionistas will all be keen on well-styled fashionable clothes which they will get themselves fitted both digitally and in actual presence. Designer clothes will mostly be custom and choice fitted.
There will always be room for a special kind of category of clothes.
6. A market for traditional and modern ensembles.
The market for ethnic, traditional, and modern clothes will continue but the new trend will turn more comfortable fusion styles of different countries to make them comfortable and easy to wear.
The Indian sari is no longer a straight fabric in 6 meters of cloth but it is stitched like a gown and ready to wear but looks like a sari. Similarly, as the world gets globalized there will be a fusion of the west with the east. The western world with the Asian market. Soon there will be the Japanese Kimono fitted into a western pattern and the Malaysian sarong into a western skirt. New patterns will certainly evolve.

People will never have their fill of clothes! Fashions will keep on changing and the methodology of promoting it too will change. Let us look at what the future offers us:
#1. Extensive job market: The fashion market has a great potential to hire people in the future. Dress designers, sustainable experts, digital experts will all be required for the new upcoming future market of the fashion business.
#2. AR VR and digital experts: The new phase in the world is the augmented reality(AR) and virtual reality (VR) era as social media also turns towards it. Many people trained in it will be required.
#3. Requirement of stylists and designers: the fashion industry with its changing designs and trends will require well-qualified design experts in sustainable fabrics and fusion wear. Those who can do predictive analysis on consumer demand will become very important and in hot demand by the industry.
To conclude
The fashion business is certainly the sunrise sector in the world. While some people will look for comfortable lounging clothes, others will require formal clothes.
Then people will be looking for fusions of different designs and some will push for sustainability and eco-friendly clothes.
The choice is endless whether for men or women. It is an employment-oriented and cash-rich industry.
The future is bright for people who have the qualification and skill as so many new avenues for fashion can be seen in the future.
