The Future Of Every Writer

A peak into what the future will look like for all writers on Medium and any other platform.

The difference between a one-time sensation and an all-time glorification is simply the ability to resonate with change.

Call me crazy, but since when I stumbled on the Medium Application on Google Play store, I have been continually asking questions and searching for ways and methods to swiftly improve my writing as that of the renowned writers on Medium.

As creepy as it sounds, I took time to solely study and Medium-stalk top writers like Tim Denning, Ayodeji Awosika, J.J Pryor, and many others. And with the several articles they publish every day, I noticed that there is always a tint of change in their writing and presentation. This is as a result of them resonating constantly with change.

In less than a decade, writing has evolved drastically from regular novel/book writing to magazines, brochures, one-pager newsletters, and articles.

Wholly! Writing should have gone past the stage of being studied as just a short-term developmental course because it has gone beyond mere scribbling down points through infatuations and inspirations to properly fixate the right words to sell a piece. By now, writing should have been instilled in learning institutes as a basic course of study.

Thousands and thousands of uniquely talented writers have emerged through the years, from regular imaginary fictitious storytellers to marvelous unpredictable poem writers and succinct ode writers. Most of the top writers on Medium, Quora, Fiverr, and Upwork have mastered the works of the present day technology and used it to their best ability to promote and in some cases prove the quality of their published piece. Although nothing lasts forever, and some things will never change but still, change is constant. This is the idea most of the top writers have mastered and have prepared their minds for. Hence, to a certain level, I believe the following change will be eminent in the writing industry in the forth-coming years and decades. See for yourself!

Small cubes would have concrete shapes

I am not referring to cubes of sugar or blistering ice. Small cubes in this prospect, refer to new writers and not yet seen sensational writing talents. Come the nearest future, most of the present-day top writers that refuse to align and notice change would have been affected by time and therefore being overshadowed by either new or out-of-the-blue writers who have secretly mastered the ability of observation in the writing industry.

Some wonderful body of works would have gone obsolete and down the memory lane with several other millions of writing pieces on the internet. Thus, it is crucial that as a present-day writer you must grind in your efforts to prepare a working finisher piece that will stand the test of time. Rather than continually creating sequels of how-to pieces and regular Listicles. Only a few writers were able to observe this viewpoint and look into the writing future to create wonderful pieces like;

The Ropes will be cut short

What rope? There is always a belief that every industry has its perks of operation and steps in accordance to be successful in them. But this will rather be different in the writing industry in the nearest future. As readers have been seen to show uncanny likes for basking in the euphoria of reading quick captivating articles and pieces.

Come the nearest future, the professional ropes of writing will be cut short and bypassed by any writer who is gifted enough to swiftly captivate and secure the attention of readers. Writing experience might become very unnecessary in deciding any writer’s success.

Marketability

A little bit shaded and a little faded, sales will be altered in writing. The change experienced from sales of regular books to digital books will be a walk in the park for this yet bewildering market change.

In the nearest future, shorter word pieces would have higher sales ability than regular pieces of 900- 1500 words. Publishing websites like Medium and Constant content might even publish and make enormous sales from sentences of not more than 8–20 words. Strangely this is already happening and can be seen in well-performed short pieces like;

Media language

One of the surprises you would get as a writer in the future is the birth of the Media language.

Except for gifted cases, the average concentration time spent by readers has reduced drastically over the years; a rather fictitious but becoming truth. The future of writing will experience and see new writers learning a certain type of unique internet language, which will involve the use of newly developed words that would help keep readers glued to the pages of every article they read. This language might stray far away from normal English, but with a touch of time. As new words and reactions to certain scenarios surface every week as trends.

Such as;

Sapa meaning ‘penury’ in some parts of Africa.

Finna meaning ‘I am going to’ in some parts of America.

Faralam meaning ‘Acquaintance’ in some parts of the United Kingdom.

Dear writers take note

  1. Keep your pens

Again, call me crazy. But I do administer that you utilize the realism of the ‘what if’ clause in every one of your endeavors;

What if you become a Top writer?

What if you become the greatest writer that has ever lived?

This is why you should have collectibles of yourself. Keep all the singular pens you used in writing or scribbling points for a particular article or story, as they can be worth a million dollars in the nearest future. A writer’s museum might soon start-up operating.

2. Await Manuscript Auction

I’m pretty sure this has already started happening. That is why I keep soliciting for every writer to at least jot their ideas down on paper. Because, in the coming future, museums might as well be vouching to put up writers’ physical manuscripts of their best sellers and paying them a torn of money for it.

Finally, don’t feel waved or shaded out. This is your time to perspire as a writer and affect as many lives as possible by creating quality content that will stand the test of time and exist through change, from now to the future of writing.
