The Four Year Old Boy Who Shot At Police

This was not his first time holding a gun

A McDonald’s drive-thru should not be dangerous

There was a man in Utah who got upset about his order being incorrect when he went to a drive-thru at a McDonald’s just south of Salt Lake City. He pulled out a gun. He was asked to move his car ahead while they fixed his order. The workers then called the police.

When the police arrived, the man refused to get out of the car as instructed. The police pulled him out of the car, and a shot was fired from the back seat. An officer saw the gun and was able to swipe it away. He received a minor wound to his arm.

Then the police saw that they had been fired upon by a small child. It turned out that the four-year-old boy had been told by his father to shoot at the police. The little boy’s three-year-old brother was also in the car.

Now the police are saying that the father told investigators that the child has gotten hold of a gun previously.

A story by Katie Balevic for The Insider stated that the 27–year-old father was charged with child abuse and threatening the use of a dangerous weapon in a fight.

Sheriff Rosie Rivera put out a press release in which she stated:

“To have an adult think it is okay to encourage a four-year-old to pull a firearm and shoot at police illustrates how out of hand the campaign against police has gotten. This needs to stop and we need to come together as a community to find solutions to the challenges we face in our neighborhoods.”

The two little boys were taken to the care of child-welfare workers. They will be interviewed during the investigation. There was no information given about the mother.

Guns definitely should be kept out of the hands of small children. Guns are dangerous weapons in the wrong hands. Everyone knows that, but some parents are obviously extremely foolish in their actions with guns.
