The following year, iOS 17/18 will release eight new features, including sideloading and stolen device security.
Apple plans to introduce eight new features in the iOS 17 and 18 system updates, including “Stolen Device Protection” for iPhones, Apple Music Collaborative Playlists, AirPlay, sideloading (EU), next-generation CarPlay, satellite roadside assistance, RCS messages, and Siri’s update.
Stolen Device Protection
Stolen Device Protection will be available in late January or early February 2024, enhancing security in the event of a stolen device and a compromised password. This feature requires additional biometric authentication for sensitive actions such as checking your keychain password or requesting an Apple Card. However, this feature will only be available in familiar environments.
Apple Music Collaborative Playlists
Apple Music Collaborative Playlists will allow users to invite multiple people to maintain playlists. By the way, it is not yet certain that Apple Music collaborative playlists will be available in China.
Additionally, users can securely watch their content using AirPlay by scanning a dedicated QR code on the in-room TV in select hotels.
The hotel uses AirPlay
Also, with one of the new features of iOS 17, users can securely watch their content using AirPlay by simply scanning a dedicated QR code on the in-room TV in select hotels. Apple said the feature has been delayed until next year.
Sideloading (EU)
Sideloading will be included in the first half of next year to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act. However, this feature is likely limited to the European Union due to Apple’s opposition to sideloading.
next-generation CarPlay
Apple’s next-generation CarPlay, set to launch next year, will integrate with vehicles’ dashboards and climate control systems and support multiple displays, FM radio apps, and widgets.
The interface can be customized for each vehicle type and the automaker’s brand characteristics.
Supported automakers include Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Polestar, Porsche, Renault, and Volvo.
Satellite roadside assistance
Satellite roadside assistance will be available in the United States with iOS 17, with the feature potentially expanding to other countries in 2024.

RCS messages
RCS messages will be supported in messaging apps on iPhones in the following year, with iOS 11 expected.
Siri
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects iOS 18 to feature generative AI technology to improve Siri and messaging apps’ answers to questions and autocomplete sentences.
