The first step on the gas !!! Rush to the hospital with my pregnant dear wife

This story was interrupted 3 times not by commercials but

  • first by the washing machine beeping that the washing was done
  • second by this idiot laptop which turned off suddenly (because I suspect that it turned on by itself from sleep, in the laptop bag) and I just thought that the battery is full and deeply was focusing on writingthis story (and I lost some paragraphs so I had to rewrite those from memory). Later edit, After less than 1 week, the battery had to be changed.
  • and third by the drier which finished drying the baby’s clothes.

First some info about the pregnancy … at the 6th-month regular visit to the gynecologist, they found that the baby had wrapped the umbilical cord twice around her neck.

In the 7th month, it was 3 times wrapped around her neck. Luckily, the umbilical cord is elastic and does not strangulate the baby; babies usually move and unwrap.

But the doctor told us to monitor the baby’s activity and if we discover something unusual, call him anytime or come to the hospital.

So this story is about why we were worried that day.

People around said to my wife she’ll see that when she wants to sleep, the baby will move.

In our case, the baby woke up in the morning, made her moves in the daytime, and in the evening when we went to bed, my dear wife used to speak to her and massage the belly with “Bio-oil” — this is the brand name, it contains the revolutionary ingredient PurCellin Oil.

So she had no stretch marks the whole pregnancy. Not even after.

Then she put some music for the babies and she sang too, the baby danced in the belly.

She also put on some Enya, Modern Talking, and classical music. Then when she fell asleep, also the baby slept. That’s why I subscribed to Youtube Premium to avoid the commercials, and to have an uninterrupted music experience.

I tried to avoid the baby’s first words being some commercial message…e.g. playing in the park would tell some kids around:

“Just do it”

“You are not you when you are hungry”

Or when waiting in some queue and something doesn’t work, would say:

“Let’s make things better”

In pregnancy, after the 3rd or 4th month, the gynecologist said to my dear wife that she could drink a light coffee if she wanted. After drinking the coffee she felt that the baby started to move/dance a bit every time.

The same thing happened when she ate a chocolate bar like Mars or Snickers Lion etc. (But she did not eat every day chocolate :) )

One day when I worked remotely from home, my dear wife fell asleep midday on the couch for an hour.

She was about 8 months pregnant then.

When she woke up she felt that the baby didn’t move as usually did. After some minutes she put some music on her phone to see the baby’s reaction, but nothing.

Then she ate some chocolate and still nothing…no moves. She started to worry hoping that the baby was okay, she called her medic but he didn’t answer.

I tried to comfort her and calm her and in the meantime, we dressed up and hurried to the Emergency to the hospital where her medic worked. The trip was about 10–15 minutes depending on traffic and halfway she felt like the baby moved.

Believe me, I knew that road, where were all the potholes, or any bumpers that would make the trip uncomfortable. It didn’t matter if we drove day or night.

Meanwhile, the doctor answered the call and told her that he would inform the doctor on shift to be ready and prepare what was needed for tests to see what was happening.

We arrived at the hospital, and they quickly registered my dear wife and connected a device to her that had a speaker and she could hear her heartbeats and the baby’s too.

She had a button in her hand and had to push it every time she felt the baby was moving.

In the first 20 minutes, it was 4 moves and in that hour it was around 20 moves.

Then the baby’s activity returned to normal. She was being tested every 2 hours and kept in the hospital for one day for additional tests, to be sure all is ok.

The tests were ok,

It turned out that our baby was deeply sleeping :))

We were happy that the baby was okay and the next day they released my wife from the hospital.

Then two weeks later, I stepped on the gas again hurrying to the hospital, that time the water broke and the baby was ready to be delivered.

You can read about that in the other published story. It looked like the baby managed to unwrap one time the umbilical cord once since the last visit to the hospital.
