What is a Dodoitsu
Dodoitsu is a form of Japanese poetry which you might call a close cousin of Haiku and Tanka. Dodoitsu poems are comical and often relate to work or love.
Dodoitsu vs Haiku vs Tanka — Structure
- A haiku has 17 moras with a 5–7–5 structure (3 lines)
- A tanka consists of 31 moras with a 5–7–5–7–7 formation (5 lines)
- A dodoitsu consists of 26 moras with a 7–7–7–5 construct (4 lines).
