The Eyes of Time

I recall the day I met those eyes and stared into the depths of time After all the years that passed I saw the way your eyelids cast down upon the cold hard ground astounded by what they’ve found scarred by what all they’ve seen retinas cut by shattered dreams pupils black as the night would hide the broken fragments you hold inside I recall the moment when I first knew your irises had turned a subtle hue Wishes that glistened in their radiance became ever-changing gradients in the light, that time gently stole from eyes that watched the years unfold
