Hierophant helps
Empress frees me to wander
Who will lift this curse
The emperor lay dead at her feet. The magician had hurled his curse at her and vanished. What could she do?
The temple guards seized the high priestess and took her to the empress. Standing by the side of the empress was the hierophant. Both were glad to see the emperor dead, for together they would rule in his place.
The hierophant, who understood the curse placed on her, helped the high priestess to escape. He told her, after centuries of waiting and wondering, there would be a convergence of time and place that would make it possible to lift the curse.
But he did not tell her how that could happen.
She fled, alone, to begin long years of wandering.
Prologue
This is the story of an impoverished fortune-teller who has lived for many centuries, barely surviving in modern times. She has sensed a coming storm and has gathered her magical powers to stand against it.
The Beginning
This was her beginning. She was a young girl in love. Then that life, with its hopes and dreams, was lost. The soldiers took her to the temple to become the high priestess.
The Attack
The magician aided the emperor in his attempt to possess her. Unleashing her power, she slaughtered the emperor. But she was no match for the magician. He cursed her to his fate: eternal, unchanging life.
