The Energetic Colors of the Rainbow

Roy G. Biv is an acronym, not a person. It describes the sequence of colors making up a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

No two people are on the same level regarding spirituality or creativity. We all have different understandings of our creator or maker, but no matter who you believe in, love is the number one virtue in life.

I’ve decided just to get creative with colors and meditation. We need to shine even in the storms of life. Letting us be the rainbows of color as we go about our days.

A neighbor’s flag inspired me in a recent snowstorm waving in the wind. I wrote a haiku as a sense of awe filled me. I named the haiku, A Heart Flag, Awe.

I believe the colors of red, white and blue released some pent-up energy from the grief I’ve been having from my mother-in-law’s recent passing.

The colors are very energizing. I think this is why I enjoy painting so much. I also believe we are full of energy, and focusing on releasing negativity is very important.

An idea about using colors to energize myself came after playing a game with my grandson during a ride in the car. We took turns choosing colors around us, saying I spy, for example, let’s say red. We went back and forth, taking turns picking the colors and guessing what each other saw. We had a blast!

Just as we all have a soul in our bodies, I also believe we have areas of energy in our bodies that are invisible, and I think opening them to creativity is a beautiful thing.

I want to meditate with the colors of the rainbow. I’m allowing my creator to be in control.

The idea is to meditate on each color one at a time. Or perhaps only choosing one color for a few minutes, working your way through the entire rainbow.

Or if meditation isn’t your thing, what about being intentional about spotting these colors around you each day. Life is one big rainbow.

Let’s follow Roy G. Biv in your personalized way. As for me, I love to sit with some calming music and focus on one color at a time. I like to choose a color for the day and envision that color while closing my eyes. I then invite my creator to lead me.

My imagination can go wild. I sometimes see theme parks, flowers, the sun, birds, trees, rivers, the sky, fruit, and even vegetables.

The possibilities of what can come into your mind are fascinating. Be intentional and stick to one color at a time.

Red

Red often captures our attention while letting us know something significant is about to happen.

Red is a powerful color and a highly pigmented color that can trigger strong emotions.

Red is never used to illustrate weakness. Instead, it is used in nearly every country to suggest difficulty or to issue a warning.

The color red of the rainbow can also represent:

• Excitement
• Facsination
• Stamina

Orange

Orange is typically a happy color that makes people feel generous and satisfied.

Orange represents creativity. It has the potential even to encourage people to loosen up and admire life. Softer shades of orange are mostly associated with optimistic feelings and beliefs.

Mixing the colors on either side of orange feeds off both shades – for instance, the happiness of yellow and the stamina of red combine to make the color orange.

Therefore, the color orange of the rainbow can also represent:

• Energy
• Happiness
• Stamina
• Strength

Yellow

Yellow is often used to illustrate a happy face because it’s considered the happiest color in the rainbow.

Did you know that yellow is a mixture of red and green in a rainbow? However, if you try to mix red and green paints, they would make brown. The reason it doesn’t turn yellow is that paint doesn’t emit light; it reflects it. I find this fascinating!

It represents vitality and friendliness. Yellow like the sunshine is often associated with joy, positive thinking, and communication.

Often, yellow screams inspiration; putting something yellow where you can easily see it, can spark your creativity.

The color yellow of the rainbow can also represent:

• Cheerfulness
• Orderliness
• Stability

Green

Green is a refreshing color that symbolizes growth and renewal.

The color green is in the middle of the rainbow and represents the color of life. It also symbolizes wealth.

Green is often linked to nature and living innately. Recycling and using natural products are often referred to as living green. When people decide to start replacing unnatural products with more raw products, it means they could be going green.

The color green of the rainbow can also represent:

• Advancement
• Essence
• Health

Blue

Blue is a well-loved color with many healing and soothing properties.

Blue is the color of the sky. It’s often associated with divinity and illustrates trust and loyalty.

The color of the sky and the ocean, blue, represents peace, relaxation, and stability. When people want to relax, they often seek out water.

The color blue of the rainbow can also represent:

• Attitude
• Cool
• Informative
• Peace

Indigo

Indigo can represent mystery. A mix of purple and blue, indigo is the color of the midnight sky.

Consequently, indigo encourages individuals to think more deeply about life and has strong connections to spiritualism and inward thinking.

The color indigo of the rainbow can also represent:

• Attention
• Imagination
• Spiritual happiness
• Understanding

Violet

Violet is associated with individuality and selflessness.

People who are around the color violet can feel more empathetic and kinder. Violet is on the opposite end of the rainbow from red; violet is the most subtle color.

However, do not mistake subtlety for weakness. Violet even has extraordinary superpowers.

The color violet of the rainbow can also represent:

• Creativity
• Extravagance
• Secrecy
• Majesty
• Vision

Creating with colors

The rainbow is one of the most extraordinary occurring phenomena in nature.

Rainbows appear in the sky when sunlight surpasses raindrops, causing scattering and bending of the light.

Rainbows often hold profound importance and connotation to people when they see them.

Somebody who has suffered a tremendous personal loss might feel impacted when they spot a rainbow.

Or they could feel a spiritual connection even. My husband and I saw a rainbow in Kauai on our wedding day as we left the chapel. It made me feel blessed on such an important day.
