The End of an Era
Shelly is trying to move on after divorce
Today’s random word is broken

A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words, no more and no less.
Shelly Stanfield was in deep thought as she hiked through the woods. She still couldn’t believe her twenty-year marriage was over. It was the end of an era.
A tear escaped the corner of her eye. She had tried hard to prevent the divorce. Sometimes, your best just isn’t good enough.
Would she survive her broken marriage?
Suddenly, a warm breeze carrying the scent of wildflowers wafted through the air. A bobwhite whistled overhead, and two deer stared at her as if to say, “You’ve got this.”
Shelly knew she had her answer. She was going to be okay.
If you like writing short stories, I encourage you to try a drabble of your own. They are a good lesson in tightening up your writing!
