“I am sorry, your Majesty, you say, backing away. “I am here to help you out of honor, nothing more. I’ve no plans to get involved in elf politics.”
She gazes at you for a moment, then shrugs slightly. “A reluctant champion? You’re even more interesting than I first realized.” She smiles, looking away for a moment. “Well, if you ever find yourself in the Feyglades, come and see me. Perhaps I’ll have another quest for you — who knows?”
“Very well,” you say.
“I’d give you a gift, but, well… the goblins took all my valuables. But a little magical enhancement might do wonders for your career.”
“Uh… thanks, I guess…?” You say.
And as you walk away, you feel a newfound confidence run through your body.
Add a permanent +1 to your charm statistic.
Add +1 to your reputation score.
You regain up to two points of health.Then you hurry away alone, as Queen Arriana makes her way southwards.
Your journey is quiet at first, but as you are reaching the edge of the Deadwood, a bandit leaps out from behind a rock and attacks!
Encounter: Bandit.Challenge rating: Easy (roll 10+).
Roll using magic or brawn.If you succeed, you land a hit. You must do this twice to win the fight.
If you fail, the bandit hits you; subtract 1 from health.If you die, click here.
Otherwise, read on.You stoop over the dead bandit, and rifle through his pockets and money pouch. You find:
14 silver pieces
an emerald
a torch
leather armor (add +1 to health if you decide to wear this)Not a bad bit of loot… though you wonder how much service to Queen Arriana might have netted you? Perhaps you should reconsider a trip to the Feyglades to help her out…
It’s late when you finally get back to the guild, and you straight away take a room for the night.
