The Drifting Clouds

Clouds remind us that change is constant.

Clouds bring different emotions at different times in different situations. When I look at the white, fluffy clouds, it makes me feel warm and secure. They lift my spirit and keep me grounded. It feels like being on cloud nine.

When I look at the dark clouds, I feel gloomy. But there is always a hope that the sun will shine through the clouds.

“I can be jubilant one moment and pensive the next and a cloud could go by and make that happen.” — Bob Dylan

During my various travels, I have captured cloud photos that made me feel secure and those that made me feel uncertain and sad. Clouds always remind me of the beauty of nature.

Kodaikanal is a photographer’s paradise. I took a picture of the rolling hills with misty clouds from the car on the way to Kodaikanal. The view was breathtaking. But it also saddened me because the rain would play a spoilsport in our holiday plans.

The castle appears to be on a cloud when the mist rolls in. I could capture this spectacular sight while travelling to Neuschwanstein Castle with my family. It was a day trip we did from Munich. On a hilltop village nestled in the woods, it is one of Europe’s most photographed fairy-tale castles.

“When scattered clouds are resting on the bosoms of hills, it seems as if one might climb into the heavenly region, earth being so intermixed with sky, and gradually transformed into it.” Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Munnar is the famous South Indian hill station in the Idukki district of Kerala. During a rainy, cloudy morning, driving to Munnar, you feel you are in the middle of heaven. The rolling hillsides are carpet laden with green tea plantations. The scenic hills provide a refreshing experience.

While watching the clouds has always been fun, and I have soaked in the beauty of nature, the prompt “Wondrous clouds In the sky” reminded me of the latest cloudburst that caused havoc in Bangalore. Torrential rains pounded the city, and traffic crawled on water-logged roads. Wondrous clouds can also be challenging.

They reported tree falls across Bangalore. My friend lost 25 trees in her farmhouse and all 25 trees were fruit-bearing trees like papaya, guava, banana, etc. The cloudburst had a disastrous impact on life and property.

Thankyou Dr. Preeti Singh for the nature prompt ‘ Wondrous Clouds In the Sky’. Your nature prompts are truly inspiring.

I like Leonard Tillerman's post ‘ Where can you find your hope in life?’ very interesting because I have always believed in the importance of hope and know that it reduces stress. Leonard finds hope in nature.
