Abstract

s.

Split Soul Twin Flames can feel remarkably similar to Karmic connections, because of the back-and-forth and the way certain lessons can be cyclical until the awakened twin breaks the pattern.

That’s the experience. The soul theory is that Split Soul Twins split at the 5D level, just before incarnating into the body. Their higher self is the same. Their energetic systems are the same. Once they leave these bodies, there would only be one soul to reincarnate again.

This is why I postulate one twin is awakened, conscious, and the other remains unconscious. They are two unintegrated halves. The unconditional love between the conscious and unconscious, the union of the two in the physical, heals separation templates. We are, all of us, both the unconscious, the shadow, the dense, earthly body AND the higher dimensional, the divine, the light spiritual aspects. The meeting of the two and balancing, if it’s achieved, helps shatter the illusion of separation, bringing greater integration and union to the collective.

I firmly believe that, if union is maintained between Split Soul Twins, this is their purpose. Their union is, in and of itself, a massive grounding in of light energy and unconditional love. They, in their coexistence, embody the higher consciousness that is expanding on planet Earth. They are lightworkers in this way.

Split Soul Twin Flames don’t always end up together, and many never meet, because some souls may split simply to experience more life and learn more than they could if they incarnated in one body. I believe that more and more Split Soul Twins are meeting now than ever before because of the increase in awakening and ascension across the world. But that’s a theory for another day.

Monadic Twin Flames

The other Twin Flames that are said to be two whole souls with the same blueprint have a slightly more complex origin story. Remember that the concept of Twin Flames isn’t new. The phrase is trendy, but the concept of masculine and feminine (polarities, not genders) aspects of a whole are deeply embedded into religions and philosophies the world over (I talk about that here).

So, this stuff isn’t new. There have been countless spiritual gurus, psychics, shamans, etc. that have explored this concept. I’m just pulling from those sources and what insight has been granted to me to break this down.

Essentially, the way I’ve come to understand it is that these Twin Flames split at a much higher dimension than that of Split Soul Twins.

Imagine that much like an earthly family, we have a soul family. When cells split, mutations can occur. Like this, soul blueprint “mutations” occur. The Different Types of Twin Flames

It took me a while to realize that there was more than one type of Twin Flame. Not more than one type of Twin Flame journey; of course each soul connection, regardless of the kind, is unique and brings its own lessons. I mean, type, as in the kind of connection is different in the same way Twin Flames and Soulmates aren’t quite the same.

Now, we’re getting into the realm of things that are less experiential. I think of soul theory as akin to theoretical physics. It’s abstractions and suppositions, nothing we can really prove or disprove, but fun to think about and expand upon based on what is in our experience. If you’re not into that, this probably won’t be your cup of tea. But if you are, join me on a brief exploration into the magical world of soul theory.

If you’ve been moving through a spiritual awakening — which, I imagine most of you have been — then you are keenly aware that we are more than the body. We are something beyond; we are what some people would call a “soul” or “spirit” or “Oneness”. It doesn’t matter what you call it. For the purposes of this piece, I’ll use “soul”.

There tend to be two ways people in the spiritual community talk about the Twin Flame phenomenon. Twins are either one soul split into two bodies or they are two whole souls that are an exact energetic blueprint of one another.

You can think of a soul “blueprint” like energetic DNA. The human genome — our genetic material — is mostly the same in all people, except for a .001% variation, that makes each person’s DNA slightly different. In just the same way, because we all stem from the same “source” material, that thing that we all are beyond the body, our energetic blueprints are mostly the same, with slight variation.

Twin Flames, however — like identical twins who share the same genetic material — have the exact same energetic blueprint.

I became aware of the two kinds of twins when I noticed that some Twin Flame teachers talked about them, and experienced the phenomenon, differently. One experience is no better than another. They’re just different. And if I’d known about these differences I might have judged my own journey a bit less.

Split Soul Twins

The Twins that are said to be one soul split into two bodies (let’s call them Split Soul Twins), generally resonate with this “half of one soul” language. They feel incomplete if they’ve met their twin. There is usually one twin that’s awakened to their spiritual journey. The other usually isn’t.

The two might struggle through some difficult relationship paradigms — codependency, addiction, cheating — in order to ultimately heal themselves and learn to be more empowered. By working through these dynamics, they clear away old relationship paradigms for the collective.

The unconscious twin generally doesn’t dive into spirituality like the awakened twin, but they react to the awakened twin’s energy. Balance is found when the awakened twin fully learns and embodies non-attachment. Then, the unawakened twin is often drawn back to their other half.

While the awakened twin is still learning to balance their energy and stay in non-attachment, the unconscious twin may be attracted and then repelled many times.

Just as an earthly family is more genetically similar, souls in our soul family are more energetically similar to our soul blueprint. This is because we are more closely related at a soul level. We’ve branched off from the same soul matriarch, let’s say.

We share the same soul mother, or monad — which is a term for the great masses of energy that “source” or “God” split itself into — much like cells split into two. When cells split, mutations can occur. Like this, soul blueprint “mutations” occur. So each monad is slightly different than another.

Stay with me.

These Twin Flames, Monadic Twin Flames, are part of the same soul family. It’s as if the monad “mother” birthed twins — two souls that are exact energetic copies, paired but unique aspects, the masculine and the feminine (again, these are polarities, like wet and dry, dark and light, sun and moon— they aren’t about gender, even though we use gendered language).

I don’t know why it’d be set up this way, only it’s occurred to me that DNA is also a double helix — a mirrored reflection of itself. The Universe may simply like to arrange itself in complementary dualities — all the better to see itself, I guess. But who knows?

Anyway, Monadic Twin Flames won’t resonate with the “one soul in two bodies” rhetoric. They’re whole in themselves. Both twins will go through a spiritual awakening. They’ll either have already been catalyzed toward awakening when they meet or be catalyzed by one another.

This is the overarching purpose of Monadic Twins incarnating at the same time: to grow consciousness and root it, spread it. So, if one twin isn’t awakened and doesn’t seem to be growing spiritually as a result of this connection, that’s a pretty good sign they’re not Monadic twins.

Monadic Twin Flames tend to be “old souls” that have incarnated on earth (or elsewhere) many times before. They are generally healers and lightworkers, regardless of whether they engage with spiritual teaching.

I’ll get into how I resonate with these labels another time. The labels don’t really matter, but they can help some of us find our purpose a bit easier, so I like to throw them out there. And I think it’s important to mention how much mission and purpose and serving the collective is intertwined in the Monadic Twin Flame journey.

Monadic Twins could seem to be rarer, not because there are necessarily fewer of them on the whole (I actually postulate that most, if not all, souls have a monadic twin), but because it’s probably less likely for both twins to incarnate at the same time than it is for a soul to split. It’s thought by some in the spiritual community that when Monadic Twins incarnate, meet and awaken to their joint purpose, it’s their last incarnation cycle on earth. I hope that this brief foray into soul theory and the different kinds of Twin Flames as I’ve come to see them has given you some clarity.

We cannot know the unknowable but more is being revealed to us all the time. Ultimately, the point of this piece was to highlight the different experiences and present an explanation as to WHY they might be so different. I hope it helps someone on their journey.
