The Definition of Listening

This Will Change a Lot

Listening means to take everything out of your head and fill the person’s voice with it

Not listening to people, especially my parents, took years off my life. Not listening made me learn the hard way, but I am thankful for the wisdom received. If I was to meet my 19 year old self, I would shake him violently, maybe a slap; and tell him to listen! ‘Shut up! Take everything out of your mind and fill the other person’s voice with it!’

Instead of listening, I used to:

• Always have an answer instead of listen.
• Always think I know better instead of shutting up and just listening.
• Always hear, but not really listen. I mean, animals can hear, everyone hears. But to truly Listen. Now that’s the trait of the great.

I am so glad I now listen. Truly listen. To everyone. No matter the age, or gender, or cat, dog, leaf, snowball or bigfoots. I listen and keep my mouth shut so I can learn. The day I stop learning is the day I die.
