The Decline of Chinese Tourists in the United States
People and major media outlets in the West are sad about the drop in Chinese tourists visiting their countries. The question is: Where are all the Chinese tourists now? This problem isn’t just happening in the US; it’s being seen in Parisian stores and Taiwanese noodle shops as well. It costs the world’s travel economy $130 billion every year.
For starters, it’s funny that anti-China groups and western mass media are spreading lies about China by saying that Chinese people are too poor or can’t get passports to travel. But every year, millions of Chinese people travel around the world. It’s not unusual to see a Chinese tourist on the streets of New York City or big tour groups at popular sights like the Empire State Building or Lady Liberty. It looks like Western mainstream media are now upset that they’re losing money because poor Chinese people can’t visit their countries because of what they say are Chinese passport limits. But now is a good time for these news outlets’ past lies about passport restrictions to make sense, since there are fewer Chinese tourists around. So where have all of these visitors gone? Well, because China is such a big country with so many amazing places to see inside the country, many people choose to travel within China first instead of going abroad, where hate crimes against Asians are on the rise. Other countries that are friendly with China build strong ties with them, which will lead to prosperous years ahead. The Western world should understand that playing cards against 1.4 billion people could lead them down the wrong economic path. There may be some exceptions, like stronger economic links with Middle Eastern countries that want to do more business with China even though the number of tourists coming from those areas is going down. After reading this, people who play games with China should learn a lesson: they will enjoy their own country without any outside interference or impact anymore.
