The Deception on Ukraine Must End and It Must End Now
We Hate This War, We Love Ukraine but…
As Ukraine is defending its territory and integrity the world stands with Ukrainians as they delay the inevitable. The rest of the world, barring a few rogue nations, is standing with its citizens. This is what we are given to understand and we, so naively, believe it.
I can’t see a more vicious insult to our intellect. The inertness of the world when a nation under siege fights for its survival is chillingly deceptive. The truth is — it doesn’t matter.
I love you but I’ll let you die
This image is the epitome of cruelty. It shows the raiser of this bull who raised it to fight in the arena. He sold him so that the bull can fight. As the bull was wounded and bleeding its eyes caught his owner standing on the sidelines of the arena.
The bull ran to his master because he was the only one it knew. Begging for help he barely made it to his first owner. But instead of helping his bull he kissed him affectionately and did nothing. This picture is called “Kiss of Judas”.
The bull is Ukraine and the owner is the world.
You may argue what the owner could have done here? He couldn’t have helped the bull, his fate was already sealed when he was sold off. Some may argue that if it’s a bull born in Spain, nothing better could happen to it. Or that the owner is a bull raiser by profession and couldn’t have done anything else.
All assertions are correct. Sell your bull and let it die. Don’t give the hapless animal a flicker of hope, don’t deceive yourself or others by the false appearance of being a loving guy. Accept the truth, as it is.
And the truth is — it doesn’t matter — whether you live or you die.
Believe us because that’s the best you know
The western world reacted with financial sanctions and diplomatic isolation of Russia. These sanctions have little to no implications on the invading country.
Let’s observe the SWIFT Sanctions which by the admission of NATO is the economic equivalent to a nuclear bomb. Russian banks are barred from SWIFT which means they can’t receive or make international payments thereby crippling the nation’s imports and exports.
The ban doesn’t include the financial transactions in the energy segment. It renders the ban almost useless since revenue from energy export makes up the lion's share of Russian revenue. Russia supplies 60% of the EU’s energy requirement.
It means we despise your act of war and will ban you but only to the extent to which it doesn’t create inconveniences for us. This logic is equally despicable as an act of war.
The SWIFT ban is a bonanza for the Chinese CIPS payment system which China has developed to counter western dominance in global trade. Russia, after facing similar sanctions as a consequence of the Crimean invasion in 2014, also developed its own interbank payment system, SPFS.
The sanctions will hit European businesses equally as Russia would up its ante to scout for trade partners in Asia to fill the gap.
A giant lie is being pedalled by Biden that by banning the Russian central bank it is rendering the 600Bn dollars of Russia’s foreign reserves useless. No country, especially the likes of China and Russia hold all their reserves in dollars for obvious reasons.
At least 50% of this money is in other currencies and in Gold. This money is sufficient to fund the war. There are so many toothless sanctions like freezing the foreign assets of Russian oligarchs who are considered close to Putin.
The US is attempting to hurt Putin “as much as possible”.
They are fooling us by making us believe that their pebbles are giant rocks and that it’s big-time hurting a raging elephant.
I create morality for you
We pedal virtues and ethics to gain a moral high ground. Our morality is always shaped to fit our interests. Consider my country’s stand — we are against the war but we are not against Russia! So we abstained from voting in the UN assembly.
Where in the world would you find such a double standard. Morality is an abstract concept so I’ll excuse that for the time being. What about logic — it’s such a foolish, irrational statement. And it makes our official stand.
Because the Russian veto saved us many times, our biggest chunk of military hardware comes from Russia, we will need Russian support in a potential conflict with China, Russia is an unalienable ally, unlike the US — the list of justifications goes on.
We are with the people of Ukraine — to hell with this slogan. Just say we couldn’t care less, we worry only about our interest. At least be honest in admission. Don’t rumble in our ears to sugarcoat a crass and a cold lie.
India has 20000 students in Ukraine studying medicine, the highest for any foreign nation. We asked them to cross the border to any neighbouring country so that they can be ferried back home. They are on their own, many couldn’t make it to the border.
I mean what kind of rescue is this? At least don’t call it evacuation, call it Government-sponsored or a free ride back home.
Evacuation happens from a warzone. Anyone can fly back home from a neighbouring country. Our leaders use such misleading commentary because we are so easily gullible. They have the opportunity to milk us to vote by stirring hypernationalism.
There are only self-interests
West didn’t want Ukraine in its fold because it adds no value to its strength. It is the naivety of the beleaguered nation to believe in the promises and assurances of the EU and NATO. It’s quite clear that the US-led alliance is wary of ruffling Russian feathers in a direct conflict. It might continue to take circuitous indirect measures but Russia is unlikely to blink unless it gets equal status in a bilateral talk with NATO.
A country that brushed aside swelling protests inside their own nation and across the world to invade Iraq that too on an imaginary pretext is now brandishing the much smaller protests Inside Russia to further its cause. The cause is — to isolate and denigrate Russia as a 2nd-grade authoritarian country ruled by a mad dictator.
As if we don’t know all that. The truth is, it isn’t in your interest now to have Ukraine in NATO. The truth is, you know whatever you are doing means nothing to stop the war. And the truth is, a country and its people are devastated because of your false pretence.
it is our job to not see the world as it is shown to us. And to not fully believe what is being told to us.
The biggest of all truths is — there are only self-interests. Nothing else.
