The Day You Said Yes
A poem of reflection — The Lark’s poetry competition
On the day you said Yes It felt there could not be Any limits to Our happiness
As the years sailed along Our bond has grown stronger And maybe some lines Have gotten deeper and longer
Through joy and sadness The good and bad news One thing we’ve learned Life comes in many hues
Still every time That I see your smile It shakes off the blues If only for a while
Because building a life Is not a small deal And though often blissful Sometimes it gets real
But every now and then You look up and see The one and only person That’s traveled the same journey
So I do confess There has been stress And at times it can look Like such a mess
I also will say In every possible way Nothing compares To the day you said Yes
Many thanks to Denise Larkin and The Lark publication, and thank you all for reading!
